What ever station Hannity is on, 790 AM LA went dead for about 20 seconds. He came back on and said they had never seen anything quit like it. Anyone else go down?

We just had a power failure here in Jackson, MI. Coincidence? Freaky.

I am on the phone with about 35 people, many in the NY area -- Manhattan and Westchester. ALL lost power and network (duh) even on laptops.
Phones still working.
Any other data?

Hannity was just talking to his engineer and said that there were power outages all over the east coast. No details on extent. Did Gray Davis take over the whole country instead of just California?

I'm 30 miles west of Manhattan in Somerset County NJ and we just had a very strange brown-out situation for a few seconds, both computers went dead, air conditioners, CO detector went nuts, about half the power in the house for about the length of time you describe. Very odd, not your usual brown-out at all, and I really couldn't call it a power failure.
As I'm typing this my husband called me and I'm on the phone with him, he has no power in Englewood, which is a couple miles west of the George Washington Bridge. I can hear the radio from his car in the background, he has Sean Hannity on ABC 770, everything in the area seems to be out. Wow.
He also said 1010 WINS is off the air, can't get it.

Hannity said "we're only on right now in WABC NY," but I heard him saying that on KABC Los Angeles.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A massive power outage swept across swaths of the eastern United States and Canada on Thursday, leaving sections of New York City, Detroit, Cleveland and Toronto without electricity, witnesses said.
Subways in New York came to a complete halt, and power was out at all three of the New York area's major airports. Commuter train service also came to a halt, and cellular telephone service was disrupted.
CNN reported a fire at a Con Edison power plant in Manhattan.
The Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Forked River, New Jersey was not functioning, according to people familiar with the plant's operation.
A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said they did not know the reason for the power outages, but said the department was looking into it.

Tv's in the other room. I hear Neil Cavuto talk about Detroit, Ottowa and NYC. Any tin hat wearers show up here yet? I was working on my web site and couldn't break away.
If I may put my tin hat on, could this be payback for power outages in Iraq? Considering the locations and the populations therein, there's an outside chance. Everyone take care. Strictly the eastern grid is having problems. The west is okay. Outages from Toledo to Cleveland.
This is just too darn crazy, isn't it? Now I 'll read this breaking thread after I sound off.

Kind of a personal question don't 'ya think?
All kidding aside, I live in Central New York State and our power went out a little after 4 p.m., and came back on about 7:30 p.m. I remember the power outage of '66. Nine months later my oldest son was born. That power outage was much worse.

Funniest moment this afternoon for me was when the "scroll" at the bottom of the screen on CNN reported the headline "UN Building in the dark..."
