If anybody appealed -- or appeals in the future -- that federal district court judge's decision, the case goes to -- the Ninth Circus!

Thanks for the info! The appropriate section (I think):

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 5 EXECUTIVE SEC. 10. The Lieutenant Governor shall become Governor when a vacancy occurs in the office of Governor. The Lieutenant Governor shall act as Governor during the impeachment, absence from the State, or other temporary disability of the Governor or of a Governor-elect who fails to take office. The Legislature shall provide an order of precedence after the Lieutenant Governor for succession to the office of Governor and for the temporary exercise of the Governor's functions. The Supreme Court has exclusive jurisdiction to determine all questions arising under this section. Standing to raise questions of vacancy or temporary disability is vested exclusively in a body provided by statute.

Its the only real shot they have left and its a technical rather than a political argument. It may carry some weight, but not enough to delay an election all the way to March.

Isn't the wife of Stephen Reinhardt (the Ninth Circus judge) a big shot in the L.A. ACLU?

Oh we could hope the little jerk is stupid enough to try that. That'd be fun.

Yes, indeed. Arnold's Austrian accent would be perfect for, say, quoting a favorite line from Young Frankenstein:

"A riot is an ungly thing ... undt, I tink, that it is chust about time ve had vun!" ;-)

It's hard to believe you guys turned into ArnieBots in one day!

I'm not. However, we personally collected almost 200 signature for the recall effort. Our specific goal is to throw the extreme leftist screw worm Davis out of office. The man and his leftist supporters were dangerous and almost drove the state into a financial ditch.

For the record, when the time comes, I will vote for who I think is the best man, but be assured, Davis will be history. It's a total recall. We are making political history, and the clear message is being sent from the people of California, that who ever is going to be governor will do so at a risk of having their political career murdered at the hands of the people.

California is creating a political earthquake, and it's just what was needed.

....to use voting machines they had promised a federal judge they would discard before using them again in March.

Don't see how they are breaking that promise technically....they probably won't be using them in March...we just have to use them on October 7th.

I think it's healthy for a government to be a bit afraid of its citizens.

Yeah but that would only have worked PRIOR to the recall being certified (the 1.6 million signatures deal). But you're right, he's certainly not a team player.

he'd resign, make Bustamente Governor, and render the whole recall moot

Wow, how many times does this have to be explained over and over again?

That's NOT how the law reads. He can't resign now and save the office. That's been refuted in this very thread several times.
