Conservatives should fight like to move the situation to the right. The most important part of that is to fight winnable battles. I see pushing for a guy like McClintock (whom I respect and think he'd do a great job if by some unimaginable miracle he could win) as similar to Market-Garden in WWII (immortalized in the book and movie A Bridge Too Far), had Market-Garden worked it would have ended WWII in a couple weeks, problem is Market-Garden couldn't work it was the wrong plan for the terrain and the battlefield; and in order to support Market-Garden we had to put the brakes on Patton's southern push which could have ended the war in a month or so. Because we put all the assets behind a plan that looked great but was doomed to failure the war dragged on longer than it would have, the Arden counter offensive happened, and we lost thousands more soldiers than we would have if we'd made Montie take that damn harbor and shorten the supply line.

This is the planning stage, this is when you're supposed to "surrender" bad plans without a shot being fired, if shots are fired the plan is already in action and now you're stuck with it.

If Schwarzenegger wins this we get an R in the top statewide office in the most populated state in the union. It also give the GOP a friendly respectedface regularly talking politics, somebody that backs Bush, backs the War on Terror and backs fiscal responsibility, and has millions of fans, and he gets to speak from the podium of an elected official not some Hollywood goof overstepping his bounds. No pro-life candidate is going to win a statewide election in California for at least 10 years so you'd better get used to that, first you've got to change the mind of the populace then you elect leaders that reflect those value. Sadly pro-life doesn't reflect the current values of California.

I was hoping I wasn't the only one who thought that it would be insane to run a candidate who talked about abortion and gay marriage in a campaign brought on because of a FISCAL emergency.

That's like the Dims talking about the economy after 9-11 and as war with Iraq loomed. People have every right to look at you like you're nuts.

That's probably true when the political powers-that-be get the message that the pro-lifers really don't give a rip about the issue; as is being demonstrated by you all.
