"Gigli," the new Ben Affleck / Jennifer Lopez appears set to make movie history as one of the worst movies of recent years.
The film currently appears at # 2 on IMDB's list of the 100 worst films of all time, displacing even the god-awful "Manos -- the Hands of Fate," which has enjoyed a fairly long run as the worst film ever made.
A film this bad, however, can be terrific entertainment -- especially when you read some of the reviews of others who have plopped down their money to see the turkey:

From "Tiger Mark" on the IMDb board ...
Oh man, I cannot get over how good this film was. Unbelievable! J-Lo was at her hottest and dramatic best. As for Affleck, this was 10X better than "Good Will Hunting." Throw in some cameos from Academy Award winners Al Pacino and Christopher Walken, hey, you have what we call in the industry, an epic movie. Although the story deals with hitmen and hitwomen (excuse me, Jennifer), there is also a real human element here. The film can be funny in one instant and then, one of the saddest movies you have ever seen. I think that is what makes for good drama, to be able to balance so many emotions and still tell an important story. I will be honest, I laughed quite a bit during this movie, but I cried more. I cried like a baby, because the chemistry of Ben and J-Lo was that damn good. I know it is early to start talking Academy, but it must be addressed. I really have to admonish the studio for releasing this film now, it should have had a winter or Spring release, so as to be fresh on the mind of Oscar. However, I don't think Oscar will soon forget this magical motion picture. Do yourself a favor and see it, do yourself a bigger favor and see it again. Citizen Kane, you now have a rival! Musta been an investor!

That's amazing. Especially for a movie that has been out for less than one week!!!

The sarcastic reviews I'ver heard and read are plenty entertaining. Much more so than the movie, I gather, and a lot cheaper too. I'll save my money and stick to the reviews.

That turkey line... I wonder how many real life couples would resort to such kitschy talk as a prelude to the inevitable humping.

Yo, Adrian. It's called Irony.

I thought it might be ... But the more I read, the more I wondered whether ANYONE could carry irony that far. Anyone sane, that is.

selected bits from reviews:
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Eleanor Ringel Gillespie
"So bad it verges on the legendary." more...
Cincinnati Enquirer, Margaret A. McGurk
"And the dialogue - sweet, screaming Jehosephat, it's awful."
San Jose Mercury
"The alleged comedy "Gigli" (pronounced "jeally," which rhymes with really) is a rigli, rigli bad movie. "
E! Online
"While it's not a total train wreck, this Bennifer comedy is bad for many reasons."
San Francisco Chronicle
Mick LaSalle "...the most thoroughly joyless and inept film of the year, and one of the worst of the decade."
USA Today Claudia Puig
"...the rare movie that never seems to take off, but also never seems to end."
Rolling Stone Peter Travers
"...jaw-droppingly awful..."
filmcritic.com Sean O'Connell
"The results arent as dire as expected, but they remain far from entertaining."
and the user reviews on yahoo give it the grade of D. even the STUPIDEST movie gets at least a B... so this thing must really be horrible.
