On Special Report with Fox News, they discussed the Arnold issue, and said that Arnold would likely encourage his "good friend" Dick Riordan to run, if he chooses not to run.

The report added that Riordan has been discussing with DEMOCRATS possibly affilating with their party

Riordan boosters: put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

In or Out? Schwarzenegger Following a Familiar Script

By Claudia Eller, James Rainey and Michael Cieply

Times Staff Writers

July 26, 2003

During his long reign as Hollywood's favorite action hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger was famous for what industry insiders called "The Arnold Sweepstakes."

The movie muscle man reveled in putting Hollywood on hold — making A-list producers, directors and writers wait until the last moment before deciding to go ahead with a project.

Suddenly, California politicians are getting a taste of that Hollywood waiting game. A string of potential candidates in the state's Oct. 7 recall election are keeping crucial decisions on hold while Schwarzenegger — perhaps relishing the sort of attention he enjoyed in his prime — contemplates whether or not to make a run for governor.

The decision could come any time, but some of Schwarzenegger's key political advisors, most of whom spoke on condition that they not be identified, are telling him to wait until as close as possible to the filing deadline — 5 p.m. Aug. 9 — before revealing his decision...

I live in L.A. County and had an interesting call tonight from a pollster. The person on the other end did not know who hired her and wasn't supposed to know, but from the questions, though every candidate was mentioned, it seemed to me to have been paid for by Riordan.

It did mention whether one would be more likely to vote for a party affiliate or an independent, and tried to match various candidates both Dem and Pub against each other as well as trying out whether any candidates appearing on the ballot would affect one's choice on the recall.

I think Riordan is going for it, and I think Ahhnold is creating a "pretty entrance" by causing high interest in his announcement, and coming on strong for Riordan in it.

If he's that indecisive, how effective could he be as governor? He'd always be asking everyone for advice, and, based on his support for Riordan, he would probably surround himself with idiots.

The fact he's doing it on "The Tonight Show" makes me hope he says no.

He's not going to do the GOP any good. Keeping Riordin out is the only positive.

But I don't live in California so I don't care. And my liberal, left wing younger brother (the youngest being a retired Air Force Mst Sgt and a solid conservative) lives near Sacramento so I relish the thought of his property and income taxes going up. He's always so smug about those "needed" government program so let him pay more for them.
