"Spirit of Protest"
That tells ya right now they aint christian, nor are they doing Gods work. Those who allow "spirits" not of God to enter them, are simply allowing one of statns minions access.
What do you call a nun in a blender? Twisted Sister!

They seem to suffering from a severe case of martyrs complex. Perhaps if we sentenced them to 30 years, they would be happiest?

The sisters say almost 1,000 letters of support have been sent to the court.
The people that wrote them are probably the same folks who think pedophile priests should not be punished.

Teamer, do you remember Ardeth Platte from her recent whining in your locale? If you don't, just trust me and ping all the Colorado Freepers; they will remember freeping her. I can't find the thread with that after-action report, but I remember it well.

All of you would be howling in anger at the sentence if they did the same at an abortion clinc.
To: theoverseer
(1) Abortion clinics are not vital for America's national security, so this is a
STUPID analogy.
(2) Catholic clergy protest every day at slaughterhouses for children and manage to avoid the kind of property damage these heretics inflicted.

This article not only makes the nuns out to be martyrs for the Faith (BZZZZZT! Wrong answer!!) but glosses over just how loopy they are. It took me two minutes of research the last time Ardeth's name came up to find out that she and Carol Gilbert claim that they (I'm not making this up) personally made Michigan a nuclear weapon-free zone through their protest efforts. They have delusions of grandeur and have none of the spirit of Christ.
Som peaceniks are merely misguided. These people are, at best, nuts.
If nobody else has googled Ardeth's nutso "I cleaned up Michigan" comments by the time i get back, I'll find them. Gotta go back to class now.

To: FourPeas
The Catholic sisters have been in jail before...They sound like habitual criminals to me.

blood-letting and smearing would be an appropriate PROTEST at an abortion clinic.

The difference is that the federal law that prohibits "disruption" of activity at an abortion clinic
applies to peaceful protests on public streets and sidewalks. If these morons had been arrested for protesting on a road leading to the military base, they would have been given bench warrants and spent 2 hours in jail.

They might just do that!!

These women should be sent to the Nashville Dominicans upon release. Remind them what their vows were. And put them to real penance and real work.

Sentencing them to jail would be a Christian act. These poor confused nuns might then be forced into dealing with those starving for the Gospel and Christian Charity. A Dominican Prison Ministry would be perfect for these women.
They can do far more good in there than they can running around engaing in puerile political posturing.
Vatican Two on Renewal of eligious Life; "Religious, therefore, at pains to be faithful to what they have professed, should believe our Lord's words and, relying on God's help, they should not presume on thier own strength. They should practice mortification and custody of the senses...Religious should remember that the example of their own lives is the best comendation of their institutes and is an invitation to others to take on religious life."
Now, ask yourself why Mother Theresa's Order teems with vocations while the Dominicians have fewer members than there are Iranians in the NHL.
To: wideawake
Although all three have been jailed before for similar actions, none has served more than 8 months. Repeat offenders...
I guess I missed the part in the Bible where Jesus grabbed spears from Roman soldiers in protest.
These women aren't following their religion, they're creating their own. I wonder if they'll be saving souls in prison or organizing uprisings?
