Your freedoms are not yours to trade or not to trade. You are not responsible for your own security. Everything is granted or taken care of by the state. It's for the collective good of everyone and the individual good of no one. The scary thing is, any more it's hard to tell if you're serious or satirical.

I know all about Hagels record and I respect him for what he did in Vietnam. Does that mean he gets a free pass for the rest of his time in Government service? No way! When he came out opposed to what the Bush Administration is doing with the removal of the Saddam regime, my respect for him as a Senator went lower than before.
With your thinking, I would have to respect Kerry and John Glenn as Senators because they were Veterans! No way!

11 days.....start to finish for the latest Freepathon. Darned good, I would think, considering how many take vacations and time-off in July.I agree. I don't have any numbers, but it seems as if this one went quicker than the previous ones. Thank God for that. I was getting sick of looking at that Hillary in a flamingo dress pic. :-)

So, then, we thank them for their service, but the fact Hagel served in Vietnam doesn't give him a pass when he's dead wrong on public policy matters. Your reasoning is like saying the only people who should have any legitimacy to argue abortion are women, because it's "their bodies," or that the only ones who have a right to debate issues of war and peace are those who actually have been in war.

The bold and underline are mine for emphasis! Now I know what paleo means and so will you!Sorry thanks for playing. A slur by a columnist over at NRO is not what I consider an exact definition. I am a paleocon and fully support Israel as do many other Southern paleocons. But thank you for all the work, helps point out FrumFrum's mistakes. He's a hack at best

It is a DUTY to defend the nation from attackers -- attackers have different tactics. Each of us sees some of those attacks, attack modes, not all. No one sees all of them. Yet if we respect the other fellow citizen and fighter, even when he seems to take a position on what we might see as the wrong -- I mean wrong "questionable" -- side, we might have a better chance at survival and be less harmed.
Liberty Post is full of people who don't trust Bush, think he is a liar, people whose expressions about Bush and his Administration are almost exactly those of the most G-d unfearing liberal. Yet I think those expressions are thin -- how can they be thick, there is no truth to them, no real basis. Bush is a man who is committed to honesty. A politician and raised in a political family, his words have to be weighed in the context of the political circumstance in which he makes them. When he talks as the President is words are honest like gold, when he talks on the campaign trail in free discussion, sometimes he loosens up and his words can be misinterpreted, given too strict a scrutiny. I think that is the what many LPer's have done.
If it is that, which I think it is, it is a fault of their high-expectations. And faults due to high-expectations don't get treated like faults due to rebellion and meaness. They are people who have high standards and expectations of what this Nation can be, and who would like to discuss -- in energetic, free-form discussion -- so as to resolve differences between what they observe and those expectations.
There are clear concerns that are frightening to conservative and constitutionalists with some of President Bush's actions -- CFR, spending, I don't keep a list, some do. But if those points aren't resolved or at least freely discussed, I think that makes Mr. Bush more vulnerable. Especially in an election against a smooth-talking nerf-ball like Dean.

There is nothing "Neo" about Frum.He has been a conservative all his life, was never on the Left, so why call him a Neo? I think I've read his stuff a lot longer than most on FR, and it is the Canadian Left that sneers and calls him a Neo-Conservative.They use it as an epithet. They think it has some weird voodoo magic power and is the ultimate put-down.
99% of Neo-Conservatives are Ronald Reagan Republicans. That's good company to join.

Read his book. Frum left the White House voluntarily.

Sorry, bucko, but Lord Haw Haw's book sold about 150,000 copies, he got beat out by probably 2 dozen non fiction volumes, including Lisa Beamer's "Let's Roll".
And most book buyers aren't slobbering sycophants, drooling over every word their hero says (unlike you pitchforkers). Plus, they trade their volumes around, and don't treasure the work of the author forever and ever.

Hey...we aren't proud! A big enough donation could make that picture disappear......at LEAST for one Freepathon cycle! Let me know....I'll see what I can do (wink).

I am opposed to expanding federal government. But I'm equally opposed to allowing the liberals/socialists/marxists, et al, from regaining power. I want a turnover in the judiciary. You and I both know that that is impossible with the Democrats holding the White House or the Senate. They must be blocked. Get the liberal activists out of our courts and much of this unconstitutional expansion can be blocked and or reversed (along with a huge mess of other evil liberal rulings).
There is no other possible way to do it.
Or, if you know of another way, please enlighten us.

There is no other possible way to do it. Or, if you know of another way, please enlighten us. I think your overall strategy is sound. However, I think it is a tactical mistake to let the GOP know that it can take the votes of fiscal and social conservatives for granted. The minute they believe they can take your vote for granted is the minute they stop listening to you. We should ALWAYS hold out the option of voting 3rd Party if the GOP drifts too far leftward in its pursuit of swing voters - because otherwise that is where it will stay, too far to the left, because it, like any other political organization, puts its own power ahead of any basic principles, unless the people represented by the organization demand otherwise.

Hey, I'd take Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe any day in trade for Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. Collins and Snowe ranked 55 and 65 (respectively) with the American Conservative Union. Contrast this to DiFi's 20, and Boxer's 5 from the same organization. Neither Snowe nor Collins is a Nickles or Inhofe, either "RINO" would be an improvement over the two California has sent to the Senate.

Like I said, if you don't believe in defending America and or if you hate president Bush or favor terrorists over America and her allies, etc, then LibertyPost/LibertyForum is the place for you. And I bid you goodwill, fairwell, godspeed and good riddance.

I don't care about tactical finesse. At this moment all I want is a Republican Landslide and a mandate to dump liberalism! This is a major nuke strike against marxism!
