Vow: No Democrats On Recall Ballot (Arrogant McAuliffe Makes This Vow)
Associated Press via KCAL TV ^ | July 17, 2003

Posted on 07/17/2003 2:58:10 PM PDT by PJ-Comix

LOS ANGELES (AP) The chairman of the Democratic National Committee vowed Thursday that no Democrat will run to replace Gov. Gray Davis if the recall drive reaches the ballot.

"I want the folks here in California to know that we are not going to have another Democrat on the ballot. I think that is the single biggest message I can give today," Terry McAuliffe told a downtown news conference.

"So if you're a California voter and you want to vote to recall Gray Davis, you are not going to have an option but a bunch of right-wing conservatives on the ballot," McAuliffe said.

Proponents of the Republican-led recall hope the secretary of state will certify the effort as early as Wednesday, which is the next deadline for counties to report signature totals to the state. Backers say they've turned in more than 1.6 million signatures, nearly twice the number of valid signatures needed for the measure to reach the ballot.

In a recall, voters would be asked first whether to oust Davis and then to choose a replacement from a list of candidates.

Strategists from both parties believe the unpopular governor's chances of survival would be greater if no Democrats appear on the ballot.

However, some California Democratic lawmakers and party members in Washington have discussed uniting behind another Democrat if it appears Davis would lose a recall vote, as recent polls indicate he might.

McAuliffe sought to discount that scenario.

"I'm telling you here today that there will not be a Democrat on that ballot" McAuliffe said when asked if Democrats would stay off the ballot even if it appeared Davis would lose office.

"I think Republicans are trying to push all this stuff out, that this one's going to run and this one's going to run," McAuliffe said. "And to a voter's mind out there, they think they're going to have options."

"They're not going to have options," McAuliffe said.

McAuliffe pledged party backing to help Davis. He said he participated in a conference call Wednesday with Democratic activists throughout the country to update them on the recall situation. He said there would be daily calls on the recall.

"This is what we did, obviously, with the debacle in Florida to keep everybody informed of what's going on," he said, referring to the 2000 presidential vote recount in Florida.

He has had a bad couple of years with Florida, the loss of more senators and congressits.

Then he just knew that he electronically lynche President Bush this past week.

We are watching the rats implode with their arrogance in front of us everyday.

It is such a good thing to see and hear.

Does McAuliffe think he is the Dictator of Democrats?

Rhetorical question of the day?

"the "evil republicans" are going to deport every Mexican, make abortion illegal, close hospitals, close kindergartens, raise tuition for college students, roll back civil rights, and throw old folks out on the streets"

That describes me, and i'm proud of it!

Bob Mullholland, the State Democratic Party's Official Spokesman said the same thing yesterday : No democrats will be on the ballot for part two of the recall vote.

Get a Freeper to register as a a Democrat and run him/her.

Better yet, find a Lyndon LaRouche Demo-rat and see what they do...

The Dimwits are playing chess. Remember that whoever wins the recall will only be able to run for one re-election in 2006. He/she will not be able to run again in 2010. And 2010 is the big enchilada. Whoever wins in 2010 will be able to carve up the districts after the census. If the GOP does not win in 2010 it will be very, very difficult to pick up seats in the state. Right now the GOP has a majority in 35 counties of registered voters compared to the Dimwits 23. That's a 22 county switch in 10 years.

Wasn't Terry McAuliffe that "great strategist" who assured us that Jeb Bush was toast last year?

Either it's a simple bluff (likely), or they are going to let a Republican run unopposed so that the whole financial system in Kalifornia collapses while on a Republican watch so that THEY take the blame for the state imploding (maybe even more likely).

Terry McAuliffe has got to be a Republican mole. There can be no other explanation for his actions.

Isn't it time for a Republican to switch and run as Democrat on this recall?

Pay my fee and I'll re register and run.

How about Doug from Upland, Jim Robinson or DoughtyOne?

If there are no Dems, then the GOP tells the RAT voters don't bother to come to the polls no RATS to vote for.

Some RAT will enter -- too good an opportunity to pass up.

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I was thinking that if the Democrats wanted to "keep" California then Davis should step down and cede the position to the Lt. Governor.

"I heard on Brit Hume's show one day last week (substitute host) during the "grapevine" segment, that Terry McCullough in his big black Escalade drove by Brian Wilson who was standing in front of the DC Fox studios, calling out "He's Gone." (something about we've got him now). Poor out-classed Terry. He has been living for the "impeachable offence," and thinks this SOTU statement is it. Terry has SUCH a mote in his eye when it comes to recognizing where Americans stand regarding President Bush."

"Jeb is gone!" Mr. McAuliffe declared brazenly, brushing aside the determination of the White House to protect the president's brother. "There won't be anything as devastating to President Bush as his brother's losing in Florida."    --Terry McAuliffe, DNC Chairman, NY Times, Oct. 23, 2002.

Terry, Al and Bill's DNC campaign 2002: 'Florida voters rising up in outrage over Bush stealing the 2000 election'

Results ~ Nov. 5, 2002:

Jeb Bush: WON!!
Katherine Harris: WON!
Florida Cabinet: 100% Republican!
Florida House: Republicans Win!
Bob Butterworth: LOST!
Carol Roberts: LOST!

AlGore: LOST AGAIN!

Florida voters 'rose up in outrage.'

Here's to 2004 and another record breaking year of American payback for really bad behavior on behalf of the Democratic 'leaders'.

Terry "The Punk" is only in his position because he is a Clinton puppet. Bill Clinton is still running the party behind the scenes. Clinton is the Don Corelone of the DNC, with McAullife as Sonny, the hot headed son.
