In 1994, archaeologist Fredrik Hiebert rode around northern Turkey in a dirty white Toyota van looking for evidence of ancient civilizations around the Black Sea. Every time he and his team would ask locals for the whereabouts of centuries-old ruins, they'd get the same response. "Everyone kept pointing us to the sea," Hiebert recalled.

This does not prove that all the other crap about resurrection and virginal birth and ... is true. Let me get this to you straight...First off, I do not care what religion you are, if you have any. Secondly, show some respect to those that do believe in the Virgin Birth and Resurrection. Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean it didn't happen!

"
Also, some scholars note that the Bible's version has Noah living in a desert in Mesopotamia, while the pre-flood coastline of Turkey was a lush, forested area."It's interesting that we don't know just where Noah lived before the flood. The ark floated freely for five months, after all, and it is said that after doing that, it came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.
How far can a large vessel drift in five months? He could have started out from what's now South America, for all we know.
Another interesting thing is the expression "fountains of the deep." This could refer to radical vertical shifting of the Earth's crust. Maybe what is now the Black Sea was a flat plain before the flood and, like the dead sea, it just sank into the ground.

"Wouldn't that also mean that the Med was once much lower as well? And wouldn't the Med rising, eventually, effect the Black Sea? " By Jove, you get it. Here is a worldwide map with the oceans reduced in depth by about 300 feet. (300-500 is widely accepted for the Ice Age). If you'll maneuver around on the map, you'll see that the Mediterranean was probably isolated into three different sections during the Ice Age. There are scouwering marks on the ocean floor at Gibralter just like at the Bosporus from the inrushing water.
On a side note, I think the same thing happened in the Gulf Of Mexico during the Ice Age. The Mediterranean has completely dried out at least forty times however, the last time was five million years ago. There are sections of the Mediterranean that have salt on the bottom that is thousands of feet thick.

I seem to remember reading this somewhere.
Don't rightly remember where at the moment.
I also seem to remember the exact salt composition as being anhydrite, which would form in places like Death Valley, if conditions favored it. (For others reading, anhydrite is very nasty natural salt crystals that can be like silica gel, it'll dry things out in no time. It will also form in salt flats receiving very little rain, but high salt content. IIRC.)
Haven't they also said that during the last ice age, the oceans were much lower as well? And haven't some said that the Med flooding over was about 10,000 years ago? That'd be quite a feat as well, considering the Black Sea is thought to have flooded anywhere from 9,000 to 7,000 years ago.
I've been wondering just what people were going to do with the proof of that occurence. The 'Pillars of Hercules' indeed show alot of scouring, and the channel carved into the floor of the Strait of Gibralter shows that quite a volume went through at some time.
I have that map saved on my machine, and have been eyeballing it often. Wonder if the Gulf will show some of the same properties that the Med and the Black Sea show?
I also wonder how often civilizations have been buried under water, how many 'atlantis' stories have happened?

"I also seem to remember the exact salt composition as being anhydrite, which would form in places like Death Valley, if conditions favored it. " The salt at the bottom of the Mediterranean is a type of salt that forms only if it is exposed to sunlight...and I don't remember what that is.
"I also wonder how often civilizations have been buried under water, how many 'atlantis' stories have happened?"
I think many...all the 'good stuff' is probably underwater.

Can't wait to see a good mapping of the areas.
And maybe some real nice imagery.

I recently read a book
Voyages Of The Pyramid Builders, By
Dr. Robert Schoch. The theme of the book is that all the world's pyramids are linked by a culture (maybe Atlantis) that went underwater on the Sunda Shelf (Indonesia) at the end of the Ice Age and the people spread out across the globe taking their 'habit' of pyramid building with them...he thinks they may even be the Sumerians.(..among other early peoples)
Also, he expects that the underwater Cuban city will be natural structures.

However, from a book called "Before the Flood - The Biblical Flood as a Real Event and How it Changed the Course of Civilization" by Ian Wilson, 2001; there is some critical commentary on Ron Wyatt and some of his associates and I quote:
Ian Plimer, Professor of Geology at Australia's Melborne University...took the trouble to visit the Akyayla site with Fasold in 1994. Like Fenner before him, Plimer found it impossible to repeat any of the various radar, seismic, magnetic, and electromagnetic tests claimed by Wyatt. During this expedition, apparently Fasold himself came to recognise that what Wyatt had argued to be 'boat ribs' wer no longer evident, concluding that these must have been deliberately scraped into the soil to appear as they did in Wyatt's photographs. According to Plimer's professional judgement the Akyayla boat is simply an outcrop of 120 million year old sea floor rocks (ophiolite), around which a more modern (and still moving) mud slide has flowed...In the light of Plimer's findings Fasold, having come to realise that Wyatt and Roberts had behaved deceptively, completely changed his allegiance. In partnership with Plimer he successfully sued Roberts in the Australian Federal Court. And as further related investigations revealed the self-styled 'biblical archaeologist' Ron Wyatt, who died recently, was in fact a Seventh Day Adventist nurse anaesthetist based in Nashville, Tennessee. As for the Florida 'university' quoted as the alma mater for 'Dr' Allen Roberts, this turned out to be a letterbox outside a fundamentalist church from which fake 'doctorates' can be obtained for just a few dollars.
Background on Wyatt and Roberts. Wyatt published "Discovered: Noah's Ark" in 1989, and Fasold published "The Ark of Noah" that same year. Roberts, along with Wyatt, founded an organization called "Ark Search" and they began publicizing that they had found the Ark. They produced a number of videos under the label "Amazing Truth Publications". In the end, they played fast and loose with the truth while making a bunch of money and getting a lot of publicity for themselves. They may have been happy to sell fundamentalist Christians what those same Christians wanted to hear -- and made a pile of money doing it, too.

You are correct, it does not prove those things. I suppose you will just have to wait until you see the believers ascending to heaven to prove these things to yourself. May God have mercy on your soul.
To: night reader
You are correct in your statement. I just hope I am around to see the looks on their faces when they realize there is no Allah, no paradise, and no 72 dark-eyed virgins, only a hell of their own making.
To: dark_lord
Hmmm, Wyatt has sure hoodwink thousands...I saw the website and was convinced...I will look into it further.
This Plimer account, is it the only one disputing Wyatt?

He doesn't think that anomolous and reather regular structure by Cuba will turn out to be something man made?
Wonder why.
If nothing else, it makes for some interesting brain puzzles. There's still yet to be a good explanation as to why the Indus River civilisation disappeared. (There was evidence of fantastic mudslides at one point, and the buildings had been built on large poles stuck into the ground as some more recent people do for their houses to survive monsoon floods.)
IIRC, the place had a major city that was 'mudded over', and the next level is less complex and less advanced. And as the levels progress, the apparent advancement of the inhabitants regresses until they apparently just up and left.
Not sure how that fits in, or where it fits in if at all, but it brings to mind something either you or someone else quoted.
"Civilisation is the pause between ice ages."
