He was always a more honorable man than his critics-nufsed!
RIP Senator.

( Would someone please tell the North Carolina Legislature thatCain did not slay Abel with a firearm.)
To: Howlin
He was 44 when he landed in Normandy as part of the 82nd Airborne Division assault on D-Day, and won five battle stars and numerous other awards.
That should be mentioned everytime the media tries to make Strom look bad by bringing up his Dixiecrat past.
He was a good man, and a good conservative. His life would make one helluva book, or tv-miniseries.

Does anyone know if he hung on long enough to meet his first grandchild? I remember reading a while back that his daughter was pregnant, but can't recall how long ago that was.

Strom Thurmond lived for 100 years and had a magnificient and very interesting life. There are few people who have been more influential in shaping things in this country than he. May he rest in peace. We should feel happy and celebrate the amazing life he lived!

"I guess because Thurmond had been a US Senator for my entire life, I just thought he'd be there forever."Me, too. May God rest his soul. I'm sure there's a wonderful place in heaven for this mighty man.

They just had to get that dig in didn't they?
The man died, they should have let it go and showed some respect for the man and his family
MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves

"The senatrix herself."
Thanks, gmoPBCF. I should have guessed.
It's amazing that she can convince dems all over the country that 'she cares about them', but doesn't exhibit a bit of compassion for someone with whom she worked shoulder to shoulder.
RIP Strom Thurmond. At least he's finally rid of the Clintons!
To: Howlin
Thanks for the heads-up, Howlin.

He was really old. Just think of all the things he saw come to pass in his life.

What you just posted makes my family seem not so far in the past! Or...
To: Howlin
Did I miss Lindsay Graham already?
To: GovernmentShrinker
I read here somewhere that his first grandchild was born sometime in the last week or two....

My condolonces to his family.
I never met him, but from what I know, he seems like one of the nicest guys in the Senate, and there aren't many.

Does anyone know if he hung on long enough to meet his first grandchild? MSNBC just mentioned that his youngest daughter did have her baby and that Strom was able to meet his 1st grandchild
