It seems that all the news I've heard today has been bad.

Prayers for the Thurmond family and his staff. Rest in peace.

I was sorry, when he retired, that he wasn't able to give interviews. He was an immensely interesting and thoughtful man when he discussed his political life.

Boy Strom sure outlasted all those DEms in the Senate that were waiting for him to drop dead so they could resume control. No way Strom was going to do that. What a life! Cant say that Strom was a spectator.

I think SC has a Repub. Governor who will appt. a replacement.

Replacement?????? Get with the program. Strom decided not to run last time and Lindsay Graham took over his seat.

They showed old photos of him from when he was a very young man. He was very handsome back then.

He was very handsome back then.

And he had more guts than most of the current members of the Senate - of either side of the aisle.

Yeah, I forgot. I guess because Thurmond had been a US Senator for my entire life, I just thought he'd be there forever.

Fox is doing a great retrospective on Thurmond right now.

The same can't be said about MSNBC ...

Yup MSNBC is focusing on his stand against a civil rights bill, and of course the Trent Lott remark

How about knocking it off on this thread, at least, re: Lindsey Graham.

What a life! I hope that I am as lucky as to have half the experiences that Thurmond had. He wasn't always right, but he was a good man who made up for past wrongs. God bless him and keep him safe.
