DC Chapter stalwart 'kristinn' braved the Good Morning America broadcast and gives us the blow by blow account..
Diane: You are going to be on the New York Times bestseller list slugging it out with Hillary Clinton.
Ann:I hope so.
Diane: Who is going to win?
Ann: Umm, Well I think she has a three to one pound advantage over me, but we will see.
Diane: (stunned silence for a moment as her jaw drops and eyes bug out) Three to one pound advantage? Did you just say what I think you said?
Ann: You said 'slugging it out with Hillary'
Diane: So you are just talking about arm wrestling?
Ann: Yes, if that is your phraseology.
Diane: (Going for the quick interview wrap up) Alright, Ann Coulter. As we've said, if you want your veins to be bulging, your pulse to be pounding and you really want somethng provocative the book is 'Treason' and it is out today. You can go to the ABC News Website if you want to see more about it and read more exerpts. (Diane, still flustered, holds the back of the book to the camera to a national television audience)

And Ann knew she has an out buy saying that she is referring to the respective weight of both books.
Hillary has been screaming VRWC in the national media for years, I dont begrudge Annie a borderline swipe at Her Henious

I don't know that I'd call "she's fat!" a "sharp" comment. Not when the woman's raison d'etre en TV is to make a political point. I'd agree. Ann loves to be outrageous, but in this case, rather than appearing well-informed or even intelligent, she just appears juvenile, catty, and tacky.

"Sure it's juvenile, but so's ice cream and fireworks, and I still like those too."
I love this line - can I rent it?

I was referring to the speed of the quip on live TV, very few people are skilled at doing that..Bob Costas at the Olympics and Billy Crystal at the Oscars come to mind and even sometimes they slip up
Johnny Carson was the master at it, turning unfunny jokes into great humor.

You're right. This probably doesn't qualify as hype, yet. If something like this gets wings and takes off, it could really help book sales though. You can also probably count on Ann saying equally provocative things in the future. Maybe it's her whole image that will sell the books and not this one incident.

I didn't see the "interview", but from what was described here, Ann probably got the best out of it that she could.
Presumably, they invite her on to talk about her new book, so of course, Sawyer leads the discussion into talking about Hillary's book. I'm sure Ann knew they were going to do this. Good Morning Moron-ika doesn't have a conservative on to help them sell books. They had Ann on precisely so that she could say something sharp. They were gambling that they could make her look bad. She was betting that she could come out on top and get some publicity for her book.
It sounds like the libs lost another one from my point of view.

bug eyes... it happens when you lift your eyelids into oblivion! or your botox doesn't allow you to lift your brows- the attempt to lift them exaggerates the eyes bugging- or they are so full of @$%# that the pressure causes the eyes to bulge!

I guess they think it shows interest and intelligence when they bug their eyes out like a frog or a toad! I think it's just a side-effect from the facelifts.
And let's be fair... Hillary really only weighs about twice what Ann does.

Buddy is the author, so I'm sort of an editor, but I'm not sure how this all works. I accept your help.

Well, it's early in my career to make an unpopular statement, but being able to say what I wanted to IS why I signed up.... I think it's kind of juvenile of Coulter to have made a weight joke there. And generally, it bothers me that females who are public figures are so often subject to comments on their looks when males can look like... well, like, say Warren Christopher, and not get quite the same grief. So here's a female public figure doing the same to another female public figure. Sigh. We really should be beyond that. Newbies sure are funny.
Go on...

I feel so sorry for him. My little Choc. Lab is a ray of sunshine, she loves everyone (even the vet). I can't imagine anyone neglecting or mistreating such an open-hearted, sunny-tempered dog.

Well, it was a vicious cheap shot. I don't know that I'd even expect Hillary to be that classless. You've never heard her refer to conservatives, or Christians? You do recall that it's your fault that Vince Foster died, right?

I'm with you. It would have been much funnier if Ann had said something like, "well, Hillary may outsell me because her book can be found on both the Fiction and Nonfiction sections." Her comment was catty and really beneath her.
To: AnAmericanMother
I have a lab also and Buddy's plight make me sickened.

Absdolutely not. That exchange occurred at the end of the interview, which only took about 5 minutes. Ann had already done an excellent job of showing how Joe McCarthy was misrepresented and persecuted.
