One of the three Muslims arrested on suspicion of being connected to the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah received military training in Libya, a senior security officer said.
Gen Pallop Pinmanee, deputy director of the Internal Security Operations Command, said Maisuri Haji Abdulloh was trained there, as were two men arrested recently in Cambodia for their alleged ties to the same group, Muhamad Yalaudin Mading and Abdul Azi Haji Chimin.
Maisuri Haji, an Islamic religious teacher, was arrested along with his son Muyahi Haji Doloh, a religious leader, and Waemahadi Wae-dao, a doctor and owner of a drugstore.
Gen Pallop said the five were all natives of Narathiwat's Ba Cho district.
``We got the right men,'' he said.
The three suspects allegedly provided shelter to JI members and helped arrange their meeting here, he said. He said Isoc's intelligence reports did not point to sabotage attempts and that part of the information was supplied by Special Branch Police. Authorities were looking for a key suspect. However, he insisted there was no terrorist cell in Thailand.
