No, I doubt it very much. Besides the fact that he'd have to set up a legal residence here -- and sleeping in his Harlem office < snicker > isn't a possiblity since it's not zoned for residence -- he probably sees how much crap Doomsberg is getting for the sad state of the city.
Also, he has to know that a large part of the city governance comes straight from Albany. We can't change most taxes without the blessings of the state legislature, and they control a lot of what goes on down here, especially in terms of fiscal stuff.
He'd also be prevented from making all those ridiculous speeches which have greatly enriched him.
I really don't see him running for office again -- I think he just wants to be a big old pain in the ass to whomever is in office and getting any attention that he wants for himself. I think he wants to be seen as a wise, elder (not too elder, as that's a turn-off for the babes) statesman.

He failed to mention his disgraceful leave taking ceremony on the day President Bush was sworn in.
)))
Steyn had no way of knowing of that since the piece is dated 1/13/2001. Notice he also says that I-x42 won't be in our face anymore. Who knew?

...he will no longer be, so to speak, in our face...

Well, Steyn had no way of knowing in January of '01 that that would not be true.
Funny stuff, nonetheless.

You're welcome - I thought of you
immediately as I read it. :-)
It's dated January 2001, but I guess many of us missed it then, since it has just been posted here recently. One of Steyn's best!
