So how much did the M1A upgrade cost with all the bells and whistles? I'm just a poor ex soldier, so I'm not sure I could afford a world class rifle.

I've told this story on FR once or twice. I was on a range at Ft. Polk one weekend teaching my wife how to handle a handgun. the marksmanship team was a few lanes down from me. They asked me if I wanted to shoot their M14. Heck Yea!

I nailed a 300m target on the first round. There is nooooo way you could ever do that with any version of the M16, right off the rack.

Hope everyone signs the petition. Maybe we should be like the democraps and vote like they do in Chicago and Detroit, lol.

I used a little bit of my inheritance from my mom and spent about 2 grand at ROBAR; while the Shepherd scope set me back about $525.00.

Next time, I'd probably get either the Springfield Armory rangefinding scope or a Trijiicon Mil-dot with illuminated reticle. Mil-dot is a bit of a pain, but once you learn the formula it can set up right quick! Somewhere, I have a Mil-Dot instruction manual a buddy of mine got me from his unit's MTU (Marksmanship Training Unit).
