[history]
More than four decades after he captured women's hearts on television's "Dr. Kildare," Richard Chamberlain decided to reveal his identity as a gay man "because I'm not afraid anymore."
"I'm not a romantic leading man anymore so I don't need to nurture that public image anymore," the 69-year-old Chamberlain said in an interview that aired Sunday on "Dateline NBC."

Let's cut the guy some slack. I have always said I don't care if someone is gay or not. What I care about is keeping it out of my face. Richard has done that. It might have happened out of fear, but I can still respect him. He has displayed dignity and class throughout his public life. I hope he continues on that path. We, the public, knew about you anyway, Richard.

I had heard about him being gay when the Thorn Birds was released, and that must be around 1980. This is news?

The "Dateline" interview coincides with the publication of Chamberlain's new memoir, "Shattered Love," which will be released Tuesday by ReganBooks. Uh oh, that title for a gay's memoir sounds a little....maudlin, shall we say?

This all came out when Rock Hudson died, if not before.

Keep a stiff upper
lip. (I imagine Richard
makes an effort to...)

Philly Boy Scout Council is shouting for glee at this unsurprising revelation.

FYI - When I saw him years ago on Johnny Carson, skinny, punked up, flipping his hair and all hyper, I realized the rumors were true. I'm just surprised he doesn't have AIDS.

He was hot. But even then I was aware of the rumors. I just thought that he was the ultimate waste of a good (looking) man.

He's 69...too old for a romantic lead, and just old enough to make money by telling his own story. I won't be buying his book on his deviant lifestyle, even tho I think he's a wonderful actor.
What a waste of a good man!

Oh NO!! Not Nathan Lane too! Damn it's like Invasion of The Booty Snatchers! They are taking over!

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us -- if at all -- not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.

Yeah, like Rob Halford from Judas Priest represented the same thing to heavy metal music.... Riiiggghttt!! ;-)
Personally, I could care less who someone sleeps with so long as they're consenting adults. I just don't want to know about it...

What's next? Gay congressmen from Massachusetts?

"We are the stuffed men..."
