(I got on this Democratic list, thought I'd share what they are saying...)
Bush Tax Boondoggle Leaves Millions of Children Behind
Dear [$],
Millions of working families will see no benefit from the Bush tax scheme, thanks to a last-minute Republican provision that cuts them out of an increase in the child tax credit. These working families were pushed aside to make room for the massive provisions geared to the wealthiest sliver of Americans.
Senate Democrats passed an amendment that ensured that all families with children would benefit from the child tax cut increase, but it was cut by Republicans at the last minute.
Thanks to the last-minute maneuvers of Bush's Republican allies in Congress, families who earn between $10,500 and $26,625 per year won't see any benefit whatsoever from the credit increase.
These families include 11.9 million children, or one out every six children under the age of 17, families and children pushed aside to make room for the massive tax cuts to the wealthy.

What Tery McLaughable forgets to explain is that these families pay no income tax, and therefore there is nothing to cut

they will see it in the Earned Income Credit - YOu know the place where they give money to the non-payer so they feel good that they are getting something from the government.
Reminds me of a birthday party I went to as a kid. The party was for a 10yr old boy, he got tons of gifts, but his mom gave his brother (who was 8) gifts so that he wouldn't feel left out. Shame...shame...

From the NY Times, as published in the Contra Costa Times:
The families were left out of the tax law in last-minute congressional negotiations over how much to cut the tax on stock dividends and capital gains, while keeping the entire bill under the Senate limit of $350 billion.
In other words, Bush wanted $500 Million, but the Democrats, who insisted it was too much money, forced the issue down to $350 milion. Now they are saying that the tax cut was not enough!
Here is the link to the Contra Costa Times Article. The above quote is foundin paragraph nine.

Most of you people are just terrible - look, just because they do not pay taxes doesn't mean that they would not if they made enough to pay taxes - cut'em some slack and, while you are at it, cut'em a check.
While we are discussing this matter, consider the plight of couples who have tried to have children but could not have them. I think we should cut each of those couples a check for $2,600 ($1000 x 2.6 children average per family) as though they had children because, after all, haven't they suffered enough in their failure and guilt.
Finally, what about all the gays who have tried to adopt and have been prevented from doing so because of such old-fashioned ideas and laws concerning morality, stability, hertero-sexual couples. Think of their pain, think of their feelings - cut them a check.
All you people have been just too damn judgemental - remember, it is a sin to be judgemental - judgmentalism is just a few letters before racism which is the worst sin of all. Gee, its great to be an American.

Have a question that pertains to this bunch of crap from DNC!
There was an article in this morning's Oklahoman about how the OK Food Bank delivers frozen sandwiches,etc. to some OKC schools for the lunch program during the summer. Do they mean to tell me that parents cannot use their welfare money to buy sandwich meat and fix their own kids sandwiches?
Not to mention, since parents get food stamps to buy food, why does the Federal Government have to maintain a summer school lunch program when there is no school? Not to mention some schools serve breakfast! What is wrong with buying generic cereal and milk? Not to mention that Sunny Delight is cheap!
Just don't understand why people who don't pay taxes should get a tax cut and why people who get credits to buy food, cannot buy food for their own children! They always have money to buy cigarettes -- why not food?
Off my soapbox!

Since the poor use the majority of funds allocated to gov't programs, they should pay the most taxes. Those who work and are resposible enough to provide the food, shelter and clothing their children need without taking handouts should pay for only the government services they use (roads, parks, etc.).

Do they mean to tell me that parents cannot use their welfare money to buy sandwich meat and fix their own kids sandwiches? If they did, what money would they use to buy drugs and/or booze?
My wife works for a school district as a therapist for handicapped kids. Many of 'her kids' have birth defects due to the drugs taken by their mothers. The horror stories she tells of kids at school, wearing the same shirt for an entire week, unbathed, unfed, etc, etc.
The 'parents' of many of these kids are just a simple combination of stupid, lazy, selfish and drug addicted. It is a very sad situation, which the government is trying to do something about. However, they do it by doing the only thing they know how to do, throw money at it.

This spam was advance yesterday on Meet The Press via a set-up question by Tim Russert to the panel of journalists. Al Hunt was right there to say...yes, this is true and isn't it deplorable yada yada yada.
Robert Novak almost jumped down Hunt's throat with his "THEY DON'T PAY ANY TAXES, so why would they get a tax CUT???".
One of the other columinists, David Broder, said what about the SS tax. Novak cut him off at the knees by stating this tax cut applied to INCOME TAXES....effectively pointing out the cannard Broder was attempting to foist on the viewing audience.
Russert was forced to move onto a different topic. I am REALLY disliking Russert these days. His questions are completely used as 'bash Bush' backstabs.

~~~~If they did, what money would they use to buy drugs and/or booze?~~~
In my state, welfare 'food funds' are dispensed via a 'credit card' that is used just like a debit card in the grocery stores. No more 'food stamps' that can be sold or traded for booze and drugs.
