(I got on this Democratic list, thought I'd share what they are saying...)
Bush Tax Boondoggle Leaves Millions of Children Behind
Dear [$],
Millions of working families will see no benefit from the Bush tax scheme, thanks to a last-minute Republican provision that cuts them out of an increase in the child tax credit. These working families were pushed aside to make room for the massive provisions geared to the wealthiest sliver of Americans.
Senate Democrats passed an amendment that ensured that all families with children would benefit from the child tax cut increase, but it was cut by Republicans at the last minute.
Thanks to the last-minute maneuvers of Bush's Republican allies in Congress, families who earn between $10,500 and $26,625 per year won't see any benefit whatsoever from the credit increase.
These families include 11.9 million children, or one out every six children under the age of 17, families and children pushed aside to make room for the massive tax cuts to the wealthy.

That is so disgusting! When my son was in 1st grade, I tutored a classmate of his in reading -- her parents were in prison for dealing drugs but I always suspected that she had delayed learning because of the drugs her Mother took.
Took me three years of tutoring but that little girl learned to read and just recently graduated college. Welfare took her and her siblings away from the parents before they (parents) ended up in jail. Those four kids had a happy ending because they were adopted by a family in another part of the State. Too many children are abused today!
Just gets me when people have children but won't take the responsibility of taking care of them! I would love to throw those parents in jail and throw away the key!

Hmmm, people who don't pay federal income taxes aren't going to receive a refund? What a travesty.

And most of them are already receiving EITC money through the IRS.

In my state, welfare 'food funds' are dispensed via a 'credit card' that is used just like a debit card in the grocery stores. No more 'food stamps' that can be sold or traded for booze and drugs. I must admit I am not current on how te dole is doled out. But one thing I believe is a certainty, is that if there is a way to cheat on these funds, they will find a way.

Yes, I am sure they will find a way to cheat, if they can.

I see that the word "scheme" is making its way back into the DNC vernacular.

In other words, Bush wanted $500 Million, but the Democrats, who insisted it was too much money, forced the issue down to $350 milion. Now they are saying that the tax cut was not enough!Excellent point.

I am appalled at the amount of taxes we have to pay. And I am disgusted at the way Congress spends our hard-earned money. BUT, this is the fairest thing I've come across in a long time.
When the cuts were first being discussed, I thought about the "bonus check" those who pay little or no taxes would get. And that pissed me off. Now I am thrilled that the situation has been reversed. I feel like we finally won a round in the "income redistribution" fight.

Rush was talking about this on his show today. He said it was Blanche Lincoln, Lincoln Chaffe, and Voinivich (sp?) who demanded the cuts remain at $350 bil - therefore, the people who didn't EARN relief but would get it anyway - were shut out by the Rinos. Apparently, Blanche Lincoln is purporting to put forth a new bill to add those people back into the tax cuts. Like Rush said, it's CYA time.

If anyone is interested in the actual stats, I have sourced them on FR
here.
From what I can tell, the INCOME tax code has become more progressive every year, with the bottom 50% paying less, but also reporting less of the total AGI.
Of course, when 50% of the population "pays" no income taxes and is dependant on gummerment, then the libs will be satisfied - right?

What about all the pet owners with "four-legged children"? Where is the "Pet Tax Credit"? And why isn't PETA speaking up about this injustice?

I blush at my omission. Thank you, but always remember, we still have the political whores in Washington still led by our eunuch leader, Frist.
