FBI agent describes Arundel shooting
Baltimore Sun ^ | May 29, 2003 | Gail Gibson

An FBI agent who mistakenly shot an unarmed Pasadena man in the face last year says in court papers that he believed the unwitting victim was a wanted bank robber who was reaching for a weapon when, "in a split-second decision," the agent fired "a single shot for his and his fellow officers' safety."

Special Agent Christopher R. Braga offered his first detailed account of the event in court papers made public yesterday as he and two other agents argued that a $10 million federal lawsuit brought by shooting victim Joseph C. Schultz lacks merit and should be dismissed.

1. Braga is a liar.

2. If I had a choice, I would not trade the horendous injury this young man received for a guaranteed $10 million. The surgery to "repair" his jaw did not do anything like repair it. The correct word is possibly "patch" the injury.

3. Has anyone seen an after-surgery picture of the victim? I bet there is a lot of permanent disfigurement. I hope whatever settlement is reached impoverishes Braga for the rest of his life. 40 or 50 years of living on dog food would be too good for this sub-human, but it would be a good start.

4. I would not mind at all my tax dollars going to compensate the victim. We will never be able to compensdate him completely, but $10 million would be a good start. Don't forget his lawyer will take at least 30% and maybe more.

5.The FBI budget shopuld be reduced by even more than the award. The way to gert them to change is punishment.

When I was much younger I idolized the FBI. In the past twenty years it has become a hit squad for whatever PC bureaucrat that's in charge. Who could have imagined Ruby Ridge, Waco, or this case?

when i was younger and idolized the fbi, i believed from the tv show that they only shot at those who shot first... now after so many instances of shoot first then cover your assterisks... i feel nothing but contempt... we need to clean house at the bureau and start with a clean slate...

Braga should be in jail for what he did. The kid and his girls bore no resemblance to the people the FEEBS were looking for. The car was a different make model and COLOR than the one they were looking for.

Braga ordered thge kid out of the car after having made him hold up his hands, then shot him while he reached to unbuckle his seatbelt.

The government should not be protecting armed psychopaths like Braga.

regards,

Here are a whole lot more details.about the incident. Now we are supposed to disbelieve the informant that one of the agents made a comment to him that this explitive happens all the time. The informant has everything to lose and nothing to gain from reporting this statement. Oh yeah, if I am a reasonable and honorable person who has just sent an innocent kid to the hospital I am going to either tell a joke or laugh at one. Of course the key words there are reasonable and honorable. I can not wait for those who will accuse people who make disparaging remarks about Braga to accuse us of cop bashing. the failure to follow procedure in attempting to make an arrest of a person who was not even close to being properly identified as a suspect is the big start the other parts are merely aggravating circumstances.

>>He is sorry guys. Move on.

Horse apples.

Are you familiar with this case? They were looking for car model A (IIRC, a red Honda Civic), and this guy was in model B (IIRC, a Chevy Sunbird, though I think it was red). The guy wasn't even in the right car, and the agents were negligent in their handling of the stop.

A professional staking out criminals should be expected to do at least as well at vehicle recognition as the average 16-year-old boy who plays Grand Turismo 3 on Playstation(like mine), never mind the negligent handling of the stop leading to severe injury for the citizen. And there is testimony that the agents were very cavalier in their calls for emergency medical help after the shooting.

The agent deserves to have the book thrown at him, then inserted sideways up his nether regions.

Lessons like this makes one fear those charged with the duty to protect and serve as much as one fears the common criminal. No trust.....zero. That is just plain wrong. A Director, Chief or Sheriff who allows such a condition to exist in their department is a POS Egg suckin socialist dog !

Your point concerning mis-identification of the car the young man was in is a very good one. In fact, that bit of negligence makes every police officer there complicit in the crime.

That could explain why they are all telling lies ~ and that's exactly why this needs to be independently investigated.
