I'll give you one more shot sweet cheeks. I give you Africa with aids, starvation, and untold suffering for children born of mothers with aids starvation and suffering. How will you fix it?

If you have no answer, then sitdown and shut up.

No...you're not worthy of the effort. You're young and dumb....and these kind hearted FReepettes are just being cordial to you cause that's their nature.

Actually, I meant what I said, and I'm reasonably sure Cathryn did too - but I'll let her speak for herself.

Ok, how many children did you prevent in your time? None? Good for you. You are an angel God sent. Just outside the norm.

I think there should be a "cut-off" time by which a woman has to choose whether to abort or carry the child to term. However, I don't know when that time should be. I'd have to study the gestation period and learn more about the development of a fetus.

From what I've read, -- the USSC established that 'cut off' point as being "viability"..

-- Prior to that time [defined as roughly the end of the second trimester] a state cannot prosecute abortion as murder.
After the first trimester, - abortion can be severely 'reguated' by the state, but not absolutely prohibited as a crime. - After viability, proscute as murder, and let a jury decide..
But in no case is abortion to be criminalized in the first trimester.

This is the constitutional way the matter rests as of now, to my knowledge. NO one on any side of the issue has come up with a better method of resolving the dilemma.

Sure a lot of shouting going on though..
As has been remarked here, much of the more fanatical only hurts the agenda of those most zealous..

I meant it, as well. Actually, it's in my nature to be quite mean! ;-)

I do believe that we have a responsibility to be as cordial as possible when arguing, especially about this issue.

As for being young and dumb, I qualify!

Then you know the story of the frog and the scorpion?

I believe that in the end, it's a complex issue that God will resolve. Meantime, I can only hope that Kevin Curry can or will explain why all this suffering has occured and is continuing for the children of Africa. I'm still waiting for his solution...though not holding my breath.

Okay. The two met at the riverbank. Both needed to cross but only the frog could swim. The scorpion was poised to kill the frog so the frog made a deal to take the scorpion across the river. The frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river if it would not strike him. Want to know more?

with no way to feed and care for

There is always a way, this is America. But people are begging to adopt babies.I know several people who have had to pay $$$ to get a baby from China, and other far off places because they couldn't find one here.

Okay. The scorpion jumps on the frogs' back and they head across the river. At midstream to the shock of the frog, the scorpion strikes the frog. The frog begs why? We will both now drown. The scorpion responds, "it's in my nature."

I can tell you what isn't the solution to Africa's problems?

Murdering babies is never a solution!

Not particularly. However, I believe abortion in any trimester is wrong. And I'm not a zealot, which you will find if you read through my posts.

To LanPB01 at #890 --

That seems like a good idea for you to do. I disagree with you on this issue for several reasons.

I wrote this column a few months back:http://www.washingtondispatch.com/article_5220.shtml

I'm sure you'll disagree. Tell me what your answer would be to this.

Not particularly?
Then why did you invite comments as above?
