He is already being tried on CNN - they are showing the aftermath of the bombs he "alledgedly" planted.
Also, The Walsh "Americas Most Wanted" guy said that there are many white supremisists in the Murphy, NC who want Eric Rudolph to remain free. His proof? He said he drove through the area and people sitting on front porches were waving the rebel flag at him as a sign he should go home.
Wasn't this a bizarre comment, though maybe not so bizarre for CNN?

Give it up. I used to get involved with these threads myself. There simply is no reasoning with the zealots.
They cannot see the similarities between their heroes and Al-Qaeda. No matter what the facts or circumstances, the discussion will ALWAYS degenerate to Bible-banging and fetus-waving rhetoric, all of whichh give our Leftist enemies fine bright paint with which to smear the rest of us.
I swear, the two most damaging factions (one, really) of FR, and the conservative movement itself, are the Creationists and the radical prolifers. Both make us all look like fanatical nutcases.
Best just to ignore them. You sure as Hell never will convince them.

This guy set the bait bomb to draw in a crowd if you remember, intending to blow a larger bomb ... an anti-human mixture full of nails, shrards, wood screws and exacto blades to tear human bodies apart ... knowing that firemen, policemen, EMTs and many folks in no way complicent with the Gay Bar would nonetheless die or be permanently maimed. People had there eardrums destroyed, they can't fly in planes or walk in a straight line. Jesus didn't authorize that.
Then he ran and hid. And these FR righteous bozos are starting a fanzine for the guy.
Bring on the evidence. I'm sure he thought it was some Reality TV game of hide and seek. That explains the seven years on the run.
I have this creepy feeling that several Freepers are changing into their "Angel of Death" costumes.

I am truly in shock. I thought he was dead (suicide in some gully or cave). Now, this will be an occasion for another execution. He had to have had some help in the last 4+ years. I just don't believe he could have lived in the woods alone all that time without assistance.

"When we stand before God, and He asks about all the millions of babies murdered, what will you say?"
I'll say, "Bless their unborn souls, but I supported the right of women to choose. I erred on the side of people that were actually born and in existence, and if they felt they weren't ready to give birth, they knew better than I did. I chose not to punish women that made the mistake of getting pregnant by forcing them to carry an unwanted child to full term. These women were encouraged to consider having the child, then giving it up for adoption, but since it was their body, they had the final say." This line of thinking, according to the Rudloph apologists, is going to cause me to burn.

They should quit yakking, create a media event in the parking lot of Planned Parenthood and self-immolate in a suicide-in like that Buddhist monk did in Bangkok in the 60s.
That'll send a message. I'll be the first to say ... "wow, that takes balls."
They'd bypass that "Thou shall not kill" heavenly disqualifier too.
To: weegee
Terrorist or lone nut? The media is wary of calling those who kill indescrimately terrorists. Even Ted Kazenski didn't get the moniker.Kaczinsky killed VERY discriminately. Targeting anything specifically = attacking discriminately (is this even a word?).
Someone who merely goes out on a "thrill kill" spree and takes out random people for fun is not a terrorist. But someone who chooses targets for political reasons and then employs the illegal use of force (or threat of force) is.

Why people resort to terrorism as a means to an end is beyond me. It achieves nothing and doesn't further any cause.Terrorism can achieve things in certain circumstances (just look at the Palestinians, and the success of the Munich Olympics attack).
But these people are not trying to achieve political goals. They are vain/sociopathic/deluded and to them killing is an act akin to masturbation. They get off on it.

I have a feeling that your heart and soul would be known in advance. That operation has great intel.

It's good to see someone else who "gets it". This has been a weird thread, sort of like a "virtual lynching" by many. Anyone who points that the suspect has rights is automatically labelled a radical.
To: LanPB01
"This line of thinking, according to the Rudloph apologists, is going to cause me to burn." Somehow, I doubt that. No religion I know of claims that reason and compassion is a route to the Pits.
A very eloquent post, sir.

Anyone who points that the suspect has rights is automatically labelled a radical. Yeah, that's gist.

Thanks. After the fury I've felt all day reading some of the moronic posts from people on here comparing this Rudolph piece of human garbage to resistance fighters in Nazi Germany, and saying they can't condemn him because he was so "courageous", I'm glad I was able to say something constructive. Saying what I really feel about some of these gutter dwelling Freepers would get me banned permanently.

Have any of you read a book called Gideon's Torch? It deals with how a good-intentioned man with pro-life views got sucked into the net of violence to fight violence. It's heartbreaking and very sad, but worth the read if you can stand it.Thank you, Cathryn; I will look for that.
However, in my opinion, (and this is just my opinion!) the bombing of and killing of abortionists is wrong, despite the fact that, in a way, it could be justified by saying that it was to protect the victims of such.
I share your opinion (except that I cannot see a justification - even "in a way" - for killing someone performing a legal procedure; the only legitimate option for change is to get the legality of that procedure reversed, in my mind), and I will add that some of the posts I've seen here today have stunned me, and made me think hard about whether I really belong here.
How anyone could call Rudolph "courageous" or refuse to condemn his actions is just completely off my radar screen.
Posts like yours and Arne's (among many others) have encouraged me, though. Thank you.
To: LanPB01
I know exactly how you feel...these killers, like Rudolph and Kopp, are most certainly NOT heroes...and they would not be, even if they DID kill Nazis, however good that might be.
You see, they are, without exception, psychologically disturbed individuals, with severe self-esteem and social-sexual issues. They WANT to kill, as does ANY psycho killer. Those he kills matter not at all, nor any "cause" surrounding the deaths. That is just convenient window dressing, useful at trial only.
These mutants, of course, are the same sorts who are very susceptible to the rantings of various zealots and jackleg preachers, who laud such animals in their sermons!
They are, in short, no different than the Al Quaeda, the PLO, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, IRA, or any OTHER terrorists...they use their "cause" for a mask...one which covers their underlying bloodlust with a thin coat of righteousness. Really, they JUST LIKE TO KILL.

Let me encourage you, too, Duchess. Stick around, you're good people.
Fear not, the zealots are loud, but fortunately few in number. Due to the volume only, they stand out.
Just do like most of us do...steer clear of the threads they backslap each other on, and try to avoid the temptation to encourage them by responding to their madness. Fresh preaching victims are what they want.

You are welcome. I'd hate to see you leave because of this.
I do see how some people justify it, when I stand back and look at the issue. However, I don't think the view is grounded in reality. I don't think it's right for us to perform our own justice; how can we justify killing these people when what we are trying to stop is killing?
There is, also, always the possiblity when you bomb a clinic that innocents will die. That makes you no better than the abortionists. All your moral high ground disappears.
It simply can't be condoned.
Cathryn
To: ValenB4
Exactly right - I don't think too many of us have sympathy for them. However, you can't just do these things. You lose all moral high ground, period.
