that the "embedded nail" bomb is also used by extremists in the Middle East.

There you go. Now how could Rudolph possibly have known about putting nails in bombs?

If we all thought alike....we'd be bored to tears.

True. (I suppose I should argue with you about that, too, just so we don't get bored. LOL)

Bull____! He didn't set the prolife movement back.Show me how this set the movement back? I think we have actually gained ground in the last few years. Why are you so angry? Do you get this riled up over babies being murdered? I wonder?

I'd rather cite examples from within the last century.

A few years back, my state (Wisconsin) has under attack by ALF and ELF. Among the mink releases and other sorts of harassment, vandalism and outright criminality, they firebombed a grain mill, one that processed grains for farmers in the area, including a mink farm. Do you think that burning this grain mill to the ground (and injuring firefighters) enhanced sympathy for ALF and ELF in this area? I can tell you that it was quite the opposite--and that extended to other environmental groups that aren't associated with them.

About 30 years ago, a group of four men used a truck bomb to bomb the Army Math Research Center on the UW-Madison campus. The bomb killed a father of infant twins who was working in the building. They did this--and flew over an ordnance center where one of my relatives worked and fake bombed the place (they used sacks of flour) to show the Powers That Be how easy it was--as part of their anti-war "statement." Do you think this helped the anti-war movement? Quite the opposite. Even those who were sympathetic--and Madison is quite sympathetic to any anti-war movement--to the anti-war movement was appalled and repelled by their actions. Only the most extreme supported these criminals (BTW, three of the four were caught and sent to prison for long sentences; one, Leo Burt, is still on the loose).

So did ALF and the four men who bombed the Army Math Research Center have an effect on history? I'll let you be the judge.

Heck no, now they've got to do some more investigating, run some calorie charts, and of course it is summer time. That means low flying planes looking for 'crops' in the Cowee Valley. At least they used to do that a few years back. LOL!!

You are correct! We would get it at least once a month at Hiwassee Damn.About 2 years ago something happened to the plane. Never did find out what.
When the FBI first got here all we heard about was a big bust. It turned out to be about 24 people all indviduals(you know they still put that stuff in the paper) With nothing more than a misdemeanor. ROTFLOL

Have any of you read a book called Gideon's Torch? It deals with how a good-intentioned man with pro-life views got sucked into the net of violence to fight violence. It's heartbreaking and very sad, but worth the read if you can stand it.

Some people say that the pro-life movement is actually in the middle of a war, and that in war, actions are justified that would not necessarily be in everyday life. However, in my opinion, (and this is just my opinion!) the bombing of and killing of abortionists is wrong, despite the fact that, in a way, it could be justified by saying that it was to protect the victims of such.

By doing this - by killing these people - aren't we in fact making ourselves to be as wrong as them? Aren't we placing ourselves in the role of hypocrite? Yes, there are arguments for both sides that can be justified, but in the end what the pro-life movement is doing by supporting this is harming themselves.

And I know better than to ask either!! ;) I have to disagree with you though. Yes, there are folks on hard times in the area. But some things are more important than money. Do they all agree with Rudolph and what he did? No, although a few might. However I know they don't like the FBI running all around their woods either

The press was worse than fly paper--we couldn't even go outside without a camera & microphone stuck in our faces about how we FEEL (and you're going to get that, too, until they get bored).
L. Neil Smith described a good way to deal with this....flip off their cameras and curse creatively.

Did you hear what John Walsh stated on Fox... he stated that when he went down there... there were actually people standing out in their front yards/porches with the Rebel flag and shouting to him for him to go home...

No, the examples you cite obviously did not.

However, our founding fathers were extremists as viewed in the times in which they lived and they were violent (thankfully) and they prevailed. The French revolutionaries were as well and they failed...miserably in my view.

I think violence and extremism depends on the context.

I do not think we are there yet on infanticide. Will we ever be?

I'm sort of ambivalent on all of this obviously...not about killing nurses or cops or the alleged Olympic bombing but I must confess that 40 million dead babies since RvW disturbs me more than if anyone blows up an abortion mill and no one is killed. I realize that is hypothetical but I am trying to be at least honest about it.

If I thought a war against abortion would work and that public sentiment was on our side and say the courts or institutions were impeding us then I would probably take a look at violent action admittedly.

It's the American Way at times...what can I say....some things are worth fighting for....freedom, security, family, slaughtered babies....

Please don't call me a Paleo...lol...I'm a Meso....

I'll be back later with some direct quotes. You know my favorite one.

You aren't going to do something as childish as bring up an unrelated thread just to attack a poster here, are you?

And as you can see from this thread on a so-called conservative forum, our work is cut out for us.

My personal belief is that these sort of threads are spammed by a handful of rabid pro-aborts trying to make their presence felt. It's generally the same aethiests, libertarians and leftists who make the most noise. I don't take them as any sort of serious representation of FReepers in general. Just activists, toting the same Planned Parenthood party-line you hear from the feminists on the radical left.

I'm not sure what is the bigger obstacle, sentiment or the institutional power of the proponents of infanticide. Given modern polling, I'd venture the latter.

Change the sentiment and you take away their power. And don't be so sure what the polling data will show. The last few polls, including a recent CNN poll, show a 50/50 split on the issue. And if you break down the "Pro Choice" camp, you'll find that half of them are morally conflicted on the issue and believe in certain state-regulations (hence, 75% of Americans supported the PBA ban).

Notice how infrequently polling data on abortion is released these days in the media? There's a good reason for that.

Take heart. The tide is turning.

anyone have any clues as to why a Christian Identity guy would have an interest in setting off a bomb at the Olympics?

No, I would never bomb anything. I am very active in the prolife movement. I work more hours than anyone I know to elect pro-life candidates, and get the pro-life vote.I can tell you there is alot of people who like to talk, but few who care enough to work.Thats why I posted the story about the Germans trying to ignore the cries of the Jews.

I really don't advocate this behavior at all, but understand his outrage. I don't like, or understand most things I know about him. I just like to go to the extreme to make my point. All the mamby pamby stuff doesn't seem to do the job. Hopefully others will get stirred up enough to do more.

You are correct that there are more important things than money. "A simple life is a good life." My husband grew up here I grew up in Atlanta and have been here 10 years. I have learned more about life in that 10 years than i ever did in Atlanta.
The FBI didn't hardly make into the woods. They had too many problems with the bees and bears. This is not a joke. They called in proffessional bounty hunters and they left after 3 days and said forget it.
