Am I the only one who is sick and tired of the wall-to-wall coverage of this case?

I was sick and tired of it from the moment Geraldo Rivera started reporting on it.
I have refused to listen to a moment of it since.

Did you think David Westerfield was not guilty of murdering Danielle Van Dam?

Dan Abrams is off the air for the forseeable future.....good riddance! However, Catherine Crier is not much better.

Thanks! I caught it when I posted "Evil Scott Peterson Arrested!" Many were the FReepers who told me to wait till the evidence was in.

Am I the only one who is sick and tired of the wall-to-wall coverage of this case? Nope. I am too. And then some.

I don't watch Fox Scott Peterson News Channel anymore.
To: OldFriend
There was more than circumstantial evidence in that case. Different, all together different...

I stop watching Fox, and the other too. I am sick of the Scott Peterson case. They are over reporting this because he is a white man, they seem to love it. N.O.W. control the news room too ?

Boy, I sure am. But in these days of a 24-hour news cycle, the talking heads gotta talk about SOMETHING. The public seems to eat up these real-life murder mysteries, so cable news uses them when there's no REAL news.
Remember when FoxNews become the "All Gary Condit/Chandra Levy News station"? Then 9/11 happened and we didn't have to hear about Gary and Chandra anymore.

I simply refuse to suspend common sense.
My 6 yr. old son was missing for a few hours and I can assure you I did not go jogging, walking the dog, making golf dates, or anything else that would be considered a normal part of a normal day.
Frantic would be an understatement.

Used to be able to turn on the tube and watch the Lucy show, not the Laci show. Seems all the nightly news is anymore is Laci and Israel.
But to be fair, NBC did a very nice tribute last night to David Brinkley, one of my all time favorites. If I ever make it past the Pearly Gates, I'm gonna scan the tube for Brinkley and Kuralt.

The relationship between the Media and Justice dances a fine line. Media needs to sell stuff--Pepsi, tampons, Aflac. Justice attempts to impartially convict or acquit, while balancing the people's first amendment right to know what's going on in their courtroom. These concepts often conflict.
The reality is that Media-obsessed prosecutions don't mean squat. Not O.J., not Van Dam, and now not Peterson. The pundits don't know what the D.A.'s strategy or evidence is, nor Geragos'. Media speculations and those of their legal "experts" mean nothing. Only the 12 jurors' final verdict means anything. You can save your time and energy by ignoring Media's Peterson trial, let the jury do it's work, and accept the verdict--whatever it is. The jury system is imperfect, but it is better than anything man has come up with to date. That way, you can focus on things you have control of, like your family or replacing Gray Davis.

Oh come on! I know is sounds shallow, but I honestly think this story is captivating because she disappeared on Christmas Eve. As for the Hispanic woman, as I recall she didn't have a husband. It is kinda hard to have the same kind of hype if you don't have a crying husband on T.V. looking for his wife.

OH PUHLEEZE!!!! Like they wouldn't have given that much hype to OJ?

And I'm tired of seeing Scott's mistress and her lawyer, Gloria Allred, on TV all the time as well. Why did she get a makeover then appear on TV stating that she didn't want to be on TV???? Why does a "witness" need a lawyer???.... Just put the regular news back on.... It's turning into a circus.

First of all, according to her dad, she didn't have a "makeover". The first time she appeared on TV, it was a spur of the moment thing and she didn't have time to fix herself up. (I can tell you I don't roll out of bed looking the way most people see me in public.) It was a sudden thing. She just pinned her hair up and went. Her father said she always looks the way she did in the "after" appearance and if people were to come to his house, they would see pleny of pictures with her looking like that.
As for her needing a lawyer, Allred (whom I don't likely politically) has done a wonderful job of speaking on her behalf, precisely so she can stay out of the spotlight. I don't blame her for having a lawyer.
As an aside, Frey's dad also has a son who is a Captain serving in Baghdad right now. He is fed up with the treatment that BOTH his kids are getting in the media right now. He sounds like a decent father and, while Amber Frey may not be the classiest chick in town, she has behaved admirably IMO and Laci's family and friends think so too.
