Rally for America - Lone Star Style! (LIVE THREAD)
Live reports from Dallas | 05/28/2003 | Interesting Times

Posted on 05/28/2003 6:19:01 AM PDT by Interesting Times

Good morning, campers.

Yesterday in Dallas, Texas, members of GreenPeace and other assorted leftists pestered attendees at the annual Exxon-Mobil shareholders meeting by way of expressing their loathing for free-market capitalism. As is their custom, most of the leftists managed to get themselves arrested in the process. Nothing new there.

Today we're offering something a bit different -- a rally in celebration of capitalism.

The shareholders meeting itself just started at 9am. As many as 50 shareholders were there supporting us right before they had to go inside.

A few more Greenpeace Luddites have straggled in, swelling their numbers to a dozen or so. Some of their signs: Exxon Earns, Earth Burns. Stop Corporate Greed. It's not about Freedom, it's about Oil. Protect our planet from Exxon. If Earth dies, Who Survives?

Sheesh. Meanwhile back in the real world, only capitalist countries have the technical and financial resources to reduce pollution. But somehow the ecological disasters created by the Soviets and Chinese never seem to get mentioned by the econazis...

Some more signs from the forces of light and reason:

Lay pipe -- Keep the caribou warm.
Poor People Need Oil!
People = Profits.

And a couple of two-sided signs:

Capitalism Doesn't Like You Either / Don't Socialize, Super-Size.
Real Social Justice... Exxon pays my single Mom 70K per year. / Oil Pays My College Tuition.

Our activists are now offering some useful advice to the members of GreenPeaceRiots:

Certainly.

Evidently a labor union contingency has arrived on the scene. They're not with RedPeace. It appears to be the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers Internations Union (PACE) -- shouldn't that be "PAICEWIU"? -- who are here to present their own issues regarding the shareholders meeting. There are about 30 of these folks, who watched the festivities for a while and have now gone to meet in a nearby church.

When they come out, the Exxon-Mobil Shareholders Meeting will officially qualify as a three-ring circus.

Nope, I'm manning the phones in Greater Suburban DC and reporting updates as they roll in from ReaganGirl, MAF and Pod down there in the heart of Texas.

And now this, from the All I Can See Is My Own Bias department -- a reporter walked up to one of our activists earlier and started a question with, "Even though you're outnumbered by GreenPeace..."

At that moment there were precisely 8 RedPeace activists present, and more than 50 fans of capitalism.
