In 1994 Bill Clinton and the Democrats pushed through an unconstitutional ban on a random list of semi-automatic rifles that they (mendaciously) called assault weapons, thus setting a terrible precedent: they can add ANY GUN to that list, including YOURS.
And dont worry, the Democrats eventually WILL add your gun to that list. Dont believe it? Consider this: the Democrats banned the manufacture, sale, and import of ALL such guns in the entire state of California three years ago.
And that same Clinton/Democrat 94 ban says that youre too DANGEROUS or STUPID or WORTHLESS to own a rifle or pistol magazine holding more than 10 rounds. It BANNED new production or import of the normal-capacity magazines weve been using all our lives.
Oh yeah the Democrats think that cops and other law-enforcement personnel are better than you, and that their lives are worth more than yours. They said this by making cops immune to the ban, allowing police to get normal capacity mags, not limited-capacity like yours. This means the ban doesnt affect the armed guards watching over Ted Kennedy and Dianne Feinstein, either. They have full capacity magazines in their guns.
A QUESTION FOR YOU
Do you want to HELP WIPE OUT the Clinton ban on so-called "assault" weapons and high-capacity magazines?
Good! Sorry, but you cant do it telepathically or by whining or griping to your friends. Youll have to spend a few minutes. But youll never break a sweat.
Its utterly simple. Not FUN, but it can be done calmly, sitting down in a comfortable chair with a soft drink in one hand, listening to talk radio in the background. You can handle it, believe me.
THE FACTS, JACK
PHONE CALLS AND LETTERS/POSTCARDS are how politicians keep their finger on our pulse. They figure if youll take a few minutes and spend a couple of bucks for long-distance calls or postage, youre SERIOUS about your message.
No, theres no way to measure the influence of cards and calls, but Congressmen continually tell us this is how they know what issues to support or not to support. I tend to believe them on this matter, if nothing else. Remember, their goal is NOT to protect the Constitution except perhaps Ron Paul of Texas but to get RE-ELECTED. Listening to their most active and vocal constituents is how they do it.
By the way, they DONT REALLY CARE about emails, so Im not going to bother giving email addresses. Emails are too easy to send, and dont represent commitment and deep feeling on the part of constituents or party members. Emails come in by the millions, are responded to automatically by a robot and then dumped. Dont waste your time.
HERE YOU GO LAID RIGHT IN YOUR LAP
First, call at least TWO of the numbers below.
When they answer, tell them you want to leave a comment.
Theyll say Sure, go ahead.
Just something like If the Clinton gun and magazine ban is renewed, I will not support/vote for (Bush, Republican Party, etc). No need to get emotional or speak volumes.
The phone handler on the other end will mark your comment on their issues list and say Thank you, and youre done.
Its easy. Ive done it many, many times. Im going to do it again a few more times in the coming months.
By the way, for all you DEMOCRATS: Your party is pushing hard, and consistently - at both the state and federal levels - to completely disarm Americans. You may not give a damn about that, but you should be aware of it.

Grab a piece of paper out of your copier tray and write by hand, or open up MSWord or WordPerfect.

GOAs Contribution to Repealing The Semi-Auto Ban: Pre-Printed Postcards.
These "Save Our Gun Rights" postcard packs each contain a total of 50 postcards, printed on brightly-colored, strong cardstock. The postcards are pre-addressed to the White House, urging President Bush to support the sunset (repeal) of the odious Clinton-Feinstein Semi-Auto Ban. They can be distributed at gun shows, ranges, or other places pro-gun people assemble.
If you have your own cardstock and a printer, you can download the "masters" for free as Word documents and run off as many cards as you like.
I disagree. Rifle or not, she is USELESS no matter how you cut it...
Sent out seven letters just like that this AM. Will be sending the same as emails today to each of their offices ... but they need to be deluged with mail, calls, faxes and the emails.
I disagree. She's worthless even with her rifle.
I do respect much of what Bush has done. His support of the military and actions in Afghanistan and Iraq, particularly facing down the UN and EU are outstanding.
But the Campaign Finance reform legislation, the terrible Patriot Act and many of its provisions, issues regarding securing our borders and now this also give great cause for concern. Particularly this ... such a fundamental right and principle.
I pray to God we can somehow, someday elect statesmen, who go to serve the nation and honor their oath to the Constitution and simply do what is right. We are infested with politicians who are equally mindful, if not more so in far too many cases, of their own political career, their fame, their vices and their own ideology, Constitution be damned.
While we continue to somehow get those true statemen into office, we need to keep at least putting conservative Republican politicians in there to offest the real liberal/socialist/marxist politicians and tyrant wanna-bes ... but unfortunately, we also must continue to hold even their feet to the fire to ensure our constitution the rights it enumerates are not eroded in the process.
As do I. He has done a very good job in these areas.

Agreed. A move to the left, either at Flank Speed led by a Demo, or at All Ahead 1/3 led by a Republican, is still a move to the left. Even though I am a registered Republican and have voted as such almost exclusively, I am a conservative and constitutionalist first.
I pray to God we can somehow, someday elect statesmen, who go to serve the nation and honor their oath to the Constitution and simply do what is right. I honestly worry that the strategists of the Republican Party seem never to have taken a statistics course more advanced than "Medians for the Mindless". For some time now, I've believed that the model of the electorate as a normal distribution is seriously - if not fatally - flawed. I think a strong argument can be made for a bimodal distribution with a large saddle in the middle.
By taking "moderate" positions in hopes of reaching an increasing segment of voters, I suspect the GOP is actually moving down into the saddle and moving away from the peak where it would find it's greatest support. The GOP's tails aren't endless: as they move to the middle (read:left), they lose votes from the right.
In short, there are a lot more votes to be gained than lost in moving to the right. So far, no one appears to have the guts to explore that in a significant way.
As John Adams said,
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other."- John Adams, Oct. 11, 1798Therein lies our true strength, and no place else in the end.
When this administration has done what is right, I will support it strongly.
On the other hand, when it does what I believe to be wrong, to be purely political at the cost of fundamental principle, then I will resist it just as strongly.
Best regards and thanks for the fine dialog.
Indeed, sir, you are quite welcome.
