Gun Controller Schumer Has Armed Bodyguard

The Senate's leading gun control advocate, Senator Charles Schumer - who's currently pressuring the White House to extend the 1994 assault weapons ban - travels with an armed bodyguard, NewsMax.com has learned.

Questions arose Wednesday morning about the gun opponent's security arrangements after the New York Post's Cindy Adams mentioned in her column that Schumer appeared at a recent event with a bodyguard in tow.

A quick call to Schumer's office confirmed that the man guarding the Senate's number one gun controller was packing heat.

"He's a New York police detective," the Senator's spokesman revealed to NewsMax. When asked whether Schumer's detective was indeed armed, the spokesman replied, "I would imagine so."

Sensing a public relations problem in the making, the Senator's spokesman explained that his boss "believes in the second amendment and the right to bear arms."

"So I don't think there's anything inconsistent about it," he insisted.

In recent days Sen. Schumer has mounted a campaign to get the White House to actively press Republicans in Congress to back an extension of the 1994 assault weapons ban, which he sponsored.

"We hope the president will not just say he supports the ban but will work to get it passed," the New York Democrat told reporters last week, adding, "This will be a good measure of the compassion in his compassionate conservatism."

No doubt the good Senator's armed bodyguard agrees.

He's the Senior Senator in name only. Hilly is pulling his strings...therefore, he is the JUNIOR Senator. Get it? :)

I don't see why they don't just come up with a bill that states who CAN have guns.

All the politicians, judges, celebrities, etc pack firearms and or have body guards. It's OK for them. Just not you.

They just don't want the little people to protect themselves.

You see, you can't be trusted.

The politicians, judges, celebrities, etc also live in rich, gated communities, that keep you, criminals, illegal aliens away from them and their families....

Maybe Chuck will put this on his summer beach vacation reading list.

It'll be great to see him with white hair when he comes back to Congress in the fall.

Hey, if you were the Senior Senator from New York, with the current Junior Senator from New York, wouldn't you want an armed guard also?

Yessss....the "little people" are supposed to rely on the STATE (Police).....who will do their duty to do the PAPERWORK AFTER you've been attacked, murdered, whatever....but, God forbid, you protect yourself! I'd like to see someone suggest that Chuckie "disarm" his body guards.....after all....WHY IS HE SO PRIVILEGED?

Senator Charles Schumer must be terrified having a gun so close to him at all times. He needs to be firm and refuse this “protection”. He’ll be lucky if he’s not killed with that gun(s) constantly around him.

Please Chuck take your own advice and that of your his fellow liberals.

Get rid of the guns! In case of trouble just relax and do whatever the bad men demand that you do. It will be over quickly, then call the police and they will take a report. All better!

Didn't Schumer once say back in 1993 "We're going to put guns and gun owners on the anvil of legislative action and beat them into submission."? What a piece of trash this guy is!

Sensing a public relations problem in the making, the Senator's spokesman explained that his boss, Senator Schumer, "believes in the second amendment and the right to bear arms."

My US Congressman Republican Jim Ramstad, MN 3rd, also says he believes in the second amendment and the right to bear arms.

From their actions and votes, I can only assume that they believe the gun banners lie that the “People” in the second amendment really means the government. Thus, the second amendment actually gives the government the right to keep and bear arms, not the people.

Since Schumer is in the government, he can bear arms or cause someone else to bear arms to protect him, but you can’t bear arms to protect yourself and your family.

I only wish that the framers of the US Constitution had given the right to keep and bear arms to the people instead of the government!

He supports the 2nd ammendment but opposes gun ownership.

Maybe he thinks ordinary Americans should be forced to chose between renting a bodyguard and renting a gun.

Where the hell is his eye protection?

It probably fell off the tip of his nose, which is his favorite spot to wear his eyeglasses.

He seems to think that when he peers over his eyglasses, he projects an "eminent judge on the bench" aura.
