House Won't Act on Assault Weapons Ban
The Republican-controlled House will not renew the federal ban on Uzis and other semiautomatic weapons, a key leader said yesterday, dealing a significant blow to the campaign to clamp down on gun sales nationwide.
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) said most House members are willing to let the ban expire next year. "The votes in the House are not there" to continue the ban, he told reporters.
His spokesman, Stuart Roy, said, "We have no intention of bringing it up" for a vote.

Maybe the AWB will sunset, but I always fear some (real or bogus) mega Columbine will come along at the perfect moment to stampede our congress critters into signing it again.

I have a liberal coworker who I got in an argument once.
He brought up Fathers day being started by Johnson and it would take a democrat to recognize fathers. I rolled my eyes and let it go and we were talking about our dept budget shortage and I said, "Why dont we just take a little out of each employees paycheck to make up for it?"
The guy was livid at that idea as it was not the companies money that he earned. Obviously, hypocracy is exposed for all to see so I smoothly say "Well, your buddy Johnson and his party do it that way."
What does he say in reply? Keep in mind he is 50 yrs old...
He says, "Well, we all are going to be getting shot as long a republicans stay in power!". I guess he was right in the end! HAHAHAHA Liberals are LOSERS!

"We have no intention of bringing it up" for a vote. Let's hope and pray this continues to be the case. Clearly, if they do not have the votes for that, then the monstrosity the marxists want to push through should never even get to committee, much less ever see the light of day.
Let it ooze back into the putrid dark hole it came out of!

The Republican-controlled House will not renew the federal ban on Uzis and other semiautomatic weaponsGreat, now my weapons will be 'legal' again. If nothing else, this should show the arbitrary nature of the majority of legislation. Now you're legal, now you're not.

Sarah Brady is deeply saddened by this. Her puppet Jim Brady is in for another day of abuse at her hands.

I will believe it when I see it. This is nothing more than a ploy by the liberal media to get gun owners to back off and allow the VPC to push their agenda, I assure you that you will see ad's on TV urging people to call their legislators to renew the AWB. If it does sunset, I will buy hi-cap magizines and assault weapons with every spare dime I have because when the demo's get back in office, it will be top on their agenda to create a stronger gun grab.

Which is exactly why Bush sid he would sign it. It is a check that was written but never cashed.

I agree on buying hi-caps and ARs ASAP upon sunset. Funny I never wanted any before the ban - I'm was an over/under shotgun, revolver type before.
But then a Kimber 1911 jumped into my gun bag. Then a Glock weaseled its way into my glove box.
And this pesky little KelTec .32 suddenly appeared in my front pocket. I could hardly tell it was there!!!
