So let me see if I've got this straight:
At 18 I can legally vote, enter into contracts, go to war (you know-unimportant stuff). But I wouldn't be allowed to buy a drink or a can of spray paint. Sure, that makes sense.
You know, I'm way past that age but I still feel that the 18 to 21 year old group, dumb as they are at that stage in life, are treated unfairly in this regard. IMO, we should decide if majority begins at 18 or 21 and stick with it.

I agree with you.....but I'd like the "enter contracts and vote" eligibility to be moved back to age 21.....and going to WAR can remain VOLUNTARY.

And you've got to contemplate cause and effect. Why are the 18 to 21 year olds so dumb? They didn't used to be dumb. Maybe a society telling them they're dumb via restrictive regulation has made them dumb. I know when I turned 18 I didn't feel like an adult, with all the things I still wasn't allowed to do it felt more like a trial-adulthood, do "adult-lite" for a couple of years and maybe I'll get promoted. I didn't start feeling grownup until 25 or so, a person really can't embrace maturity until they've had a chance to screw up and pay the price.

You have to realize that it is always the product's fault for it's own misuse wheter it is paint or glue or hand guns or alcohol or cars driven by drunks. Until we get all of these offending products banned, life will never be completely safe. It's also a good thing that nobody has ever drowned in water.

I'm with you. Where I grew up, the drinking age was 18. 21 days after my 18th birthday (also the day I enlisted, I might add), it was raised to 19 - and then again for two subsequent years, until the drinking age was 21. There was no "grandfathering" of rights. So every year, for three consecutive years, I could legally drink for three weeks - But if I didn't finish the six pack before midnight on the 21st day, I was a criminal.

We have a terrible problem with spray paint from hardware stores and from the Dollar Stores. The kids buy it and spray every darn stop sign, street signs, speed signs etc.
I found cans on my road from Dollar General. I went and asked them to not sell to teens. They looked at me like I was a kook. The spray paint is cheap and costs our township a fortune to repair and replace signs. I was advised to contact the managers or the area stores.
