Probably One of the Most Vicious Anti-Bush Letters You'll Ever Read
Lewiston Sun-Journal ^ | May 12, 2003 | Paul Macri

Posted on 05/12/2003 1:43:25 PM PDT by bogeybob

Hail to the great hyprocrite

Paul F. Macri, Auburn, Maine

President Bush is a great American, a great American hypocrite, that is.

My stomach turned last Thursday night as Bush’s jet landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln and America saw him in a flight suit for the first time since he went AWOL from the Texas National Guard more than 30 years ago.

Don’t those cheering sailors — who truly are brave and did serve their country — know that Dubya conveniently sat out the Vietnam War, not as a protester or Rhodes Scholar, but with a rich boy’s “in” to the National Guard? And he couldn’t even hack that for the length of his sign-up, so he went AWOL his last year to run a Republican campaign in Alabama.

He was never punished, as a regular soldier would have been, and even got an “honorable” discharge.

Karl Rove knows that you can’t lose by underestimating the intelligence of the American voter, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing these pictures soon in campaign ads.

Bush was “unelected” in 2000. Shame on him.

If he’s “unelected” again in 2004, shame on us for having an economic, political and class double standard.

All is forgiven if you went to Yale and then pretended that you were in the military — if your father is a rich Republican and former president of the United States.

Beware being a smart boy from Tennessee who went to Vietnam or a Rhodes Scholar (a true intellectual achievement) from Arkansas. Oh, and also a Democrat.

This is the gulf between the wealthy and powerful and the average American citizen.

I think you are confusing this with affirmative action.

The military men and sergeants never favored the rich kid, quite the contrary, they probably tried him harder. When life and military credentials are at stake, money is not the issue in the military. I do not know where you guys get this idea that poor kids are exploited or cannot succeed in the military. It is a patent lie.

"I was actually stunned to see Bush do the flight suit photo op, as all the dirt from his past will soon be dragged out."

Exactly what "dirt from his past" are you referring to?

Evidence and links would be nice, as opposed to unfounded, distasteful opinions.

My opinion is that if there were such "dirt" on Bush, the demorats would have plastered it everywhere by now.

But since you're making the charge, I'd like to see your proof.

Thanks

Trace

There's a curious fact about Clinton's Rhodes Scholarship experience...in that wonderful turn of understatement, Oxford records report that he "...failed to complete his studies."

Bush's ANG experience has some small concepts that simply seem to escape notice in the DU talking points. The F-102 (his aircraft) was being phased out of service in the Guard, and he was granted an "early out". Aside from that, the Guard being the Guard, service is measured in the number of duty days required per year. In those days, as far as a I can remember, you could "bank" your days and legitimately get out of the ANG earlier than anticipated.

I believe there is documentation online that proves Bush was AWOL. His unit may never have seen combat, but he was called up.

As I play catch-up reading, I realize someone else has probably asked, but I'll ask, too. Care to post this "documentation"?

There isn't any such thing. Why would you post a lie?

I was actually stunned to see Bush do the flight suit photo op, as all the dirt from his past will soon be dragged out.

This flight suit episode will put an end to the lies about "dirt" in his past.

Not by diversion, but by another examination of the record, which, with each go-round, shows the allegations made have been malicious lies.

Well, what the heck to you think the Demo's do with all that campaign money? It isn't just for campaign commercials.
Plenty of it goes to fund the shills. This guy is just another in a long line of immoral human beings who have sold their soul to the highest bidder.

These people are paid to start up these organizations, keep them going, etc.

Just like the MMM. Your either start up a new group, or take over an existing one, supplanting it with goals/ideas that are nothing more than extended mud-slinging of the other candidates. By putting certain key words and phrases in your goals/ideas, you fool so many of the well-intentioned crowd, gaining their support physically and financially. You continue to exploit their support while you turn the screws on the candidates (and them) behind the scenes.

1) The AWOL thing is a lie, of course.

2) Bill Clinton is not a Rhodes Scholar. You have to FINISH to be a Rhodes Scholar ... but Bill Clinton went AWOL from the program. (Notice how RATS always project the crimes and corruption of their heroes onto innocent Republicans.)

3) Doesn't this moron realize that nitpicking arguments about Vietnam-era draft dodging don't resonate at all with people under the age of, oh, 40? We've never experienced anything like Vietnam, and the draft is as much a foreign concept of the past as slavery. You just end up sounding like a grumpy old ass.

Typical of lefties to defecate and throw excrements like that during their premature ejaculations.

This shrieking has some effectiveness in rumor and terror mongering as was done during the French Revolution.

Some evil hearts bite it, others wiser ones can see the typical vigilante nature of such shrieks. Who do these people want us to pay debts to? Who they want to hold our debts from? Do they really want honest investigation and mediation or just a show trial? Asking the question answers it.

This AWOL business was thoroughly debunked on Michael Medved last week. According to Michael that well-known "conservative" newspaper of record, the New York Times" sent 2 reporters out on the trail of GWB's Texas National Guard service for 6 months! They talked to 1000 people who knew GWB and he was never AWOL.

That entire story was based on one person saying he didn't remember Dubya getting permission to leave the guard early - leaving early was not that unusual, especially as in the case of Dubya, the plane he was trained to fly on was being phased out of service. Responsible media would never have accepted such a vague source for anything else but they sure took one person's faulty memory as gospel and ran with it.

The reporters covered this issue in 1999. Not only did they verify that he was never AWOL but everyone who spoke to them had only positive memories, praise etc. about Dubya. One of Medved's lefty callers whined, "Did they speak to everyone he ever served with?" An impossibility of course so that settles it - there must be a cover up going on because they only talked to 1000 people instead of "everyone".

As for hypocrites and sinners, the lefties who erald themselves as annointers and forgivers in power are starting to get on my nerves. Hypocrisy is there very nature and oxygen.

The New York Times also looked into the charge and found it lacked substance:

If the NYT couldn't find a way to twist it in order to slander GWB, then you know there's nothing to it. ;-)

". I heard President Bush was a fighter pilot in Viet Nam, and shot down a few enemy planes. (It was probably a lot more than a few, but the history tends to get re-written by the democritters)..."

Where, oh where, did you hear this?? I have never heard this claim from any source. Could you please give a source for this enlightening info. I'd like to send it to GW, I'm sure that he would be interested.

If anyone has a link to some direct proof of Bush's innocence, I'd love to have it, because I see this stupid lie being repeated at least five times a day all over the place.
