Glad you are back! I was concerned. Large funnel just east of Channel 9 -- about a mile east. Very large -- it went just north of Channel 9.

Thunderstorms and Tornados usually hit during peak heating hours of the day, but depending upon other factors besides heating they can occur at any time.
To: nicmarlo
No, you're correct, there are far more tornados at 5PM-8PM than there are at 10-11PM (local time, of course.)
The nighttime tornado is usually more of a Southeastern (Alabama, Georgia) phenomenon but certainly not unheard of elsewhere. Not the usual mode in Oklahoma, though.

What is the url site where you are getting those warnings. My wife is visitin back in Illinois about 50 miles north of Peoria. They really don't have a close tv station to warn them.
I would appreciate the site so I can watch for her and her family back there.
Thanks!

I've never been around a tornado, but have been in some major tornadic storms in Chicago, North Carolina and Texas and they scare me to death. We live in Midland and will be going to our son's wedding in Wichita Kansas driving May 26-29. Driving right up the center of Tornado Alley.

They are warning people coming out of Stroud on the turnpike to turn around as the tornado looks to be headed up the turnpike. Our lights are flickering even here in Norman.
