A day in the life of President Bush (photos) 5/5/03

President Bush headed to Little Rock, Arkansas and spoke to a crowd regarding the economy and once again called on Congress to pass his tax cut plan. Bush also participated in a roundtable of small business owners and their employees. In the morning, the President called President Sezer of Turkey to extend his condolences to the President for the men, women and children who were injured and killed in the recent earthquake. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

As it is not everyday one gets a chance to actually see a President (expecially Dubya), so I decided early this morning to drive on in to Little Rock and hopefully get to see him. The lines were long, and security was very thorough, but I finally got in and was able to sit in the 9th row, a very good spot. The fellow sitting on my left could pass for trueblackman, a FReeper. He said he stands up for Bush at every chance, and really is so proud of him.
When the President walked on stage, he had a definite quick little bounce to his step, and the crowd roared approval, upon seeing him. He spoke of the sorrow he has regarding the overnight deaths and destruction in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and other states, saying the federal government will help where possible. The packed Robinson Convention Center was obviously a very supportive audience, giving lots of applause and standing ovations.
Dubya had met with several local small business owners prior to the speech, and he discussed what it will take to help their businesses grow so they can hire more people. He mentioned the specifics of his economic package, and said he needs us to contact Congress, urging passage to help our economy.
Oh yes, he did refer to that unusual landing on the Lincoln, and several times during the speech he gave that smile/smirk that is so endearing. After the speech he lingered briefly to shake a bunch of hands in a huge crowd (and came within about 6 inches of shaking my hand!).
Really it is hard to put into words the effect he had on the crowd. I know at times tears were streaming down my face (a feeling pride and joy, not sorrow).
Well, even though I do not post often, the Daily Dose is important to me, so I wanted to share some of my thoughts on this day. Thanks, rintense, for keeping it going!

Even Margaret Carlson admitted she liked W. Now, that's a shocker!
I wonder if Gwen, I've-totally-embarrassed-myself-for-gushing-over-algore-at-the-convention-and-disgustedly-spewing-out-the-name-GeorgeW.Bush- Ifill is coming around?

I loved it the first time I saw it, right here on the Free Republic. It has been my work computer wallpaper for a few months now. Now that the Battle for Iraq is over, I just might have to switch for awhile. Hmm which one of those flight suit pictures......?

FYI: Brit Hume beat Larry King in the ratings. I think Brit Hume is one of my faves on FNC.

What a nice day!
Thank you for sharing it with us.
It has helped me remember a day I had when he visited town.
Thank you for that too! He and Laura were so sweet to a child who was crying. I will forever love her for her actions and his concern.
I wrote, to thank her, one time when I thought she would be "down" about her treatment by the Kennedys. I have a wonderful framed reply right in front of me.

Sadly, no pictures. To tell the truth, I just drove the 2 hours up there on faith, not sure I would get in (a ticket problem). Well, the lady in line behind me had an extra one, and gave it to me--is that not wonderful, or what!!

You lucky gal you! He really is a dynamic speaker when you see him in person. At the rally I attended, he had the crowd eating out of his hand. Thanks for the report.

Okay, time for a short commercial break ...
For the Bush BABES ...
I finally found a lipstick that STICKS. All day. And in the spirit of generosity born of wanting to share a good thing, I mention this for any who, like I was before last week, were frustrated with leaving lipstick on your coffee cup, etc., and having to reapply it all the time to keep from looking like you have a mouth that's only half-there. The product is called Outlast by Cover Girl and it is amazing. It lasts all day (for real) and you actually need to use petroleum jelly to remove it.

Wow...I can use that!
I threw away the French (Lancome) ones and am too lazy to do it often.
I wonder how it will fare in the pool?
Thanks for the tip!

At least you have the experience in your mind. That is so awesome that the lady had an extra ticket. You were meant to see the President today.
