JUST WHEN Democrats were feeling stymied by the (short-term) triumph of the Bush Iraq strategy, some self-inflicted wounds have been opened in the coalition. Each, in its own way, reflects the hubris of the far right that dominates this administration. If Bush II goes the way of Bush I, he will have been done in by the excesses of his own camp.

Hmmmmm....So catering to the homosexuals, the perversion of a 3% minority, the dregs of our society, those who wantonly flout their perversion, willingly infect innocents with horrid diseases, prey upon innocent children and openly hate all those who stand opposed to their idiocy is supposed to unite all Conservatives and give the GOP a win?

I was listening to "Call me Sam" Donaldson on WMAIL talk radio yesterday. The man was salivating (while unsuccessfully trying to act normal) over Rick Santorum - the day before he was advocating for American Airline Flight Attendant Union, stoking their outrage and calling Southwest Airlines "cutrate."
Sounding like he had a bad taste in his mouth, he repeatedly called President Bush's base, "far right-wing, fundamentalist Christian conservatives"

Newt Gingrich (who serves at Rumsfeld's pleasure on the Defense Policy Board) unleashed the former speaker to give a startlingly undiplomatic anti-Powell diatribe at the American Enterprise Institute The speech was very anti-St. Dept, but Newt was very careful not to bash Powell himself. "Baghdad Bob" Kuttner lies again.

(The radicals around Bush must have missed that part of the Good Book.) The author does have a point here.
The main purpose of the Bible is for presidents to use as a prop to distract the public and make them THINK he is a Christian man.
The Bible is most effective when it is used to wave at the cameras when coming out of church the day your mistress is being questioned by a federal attorney.
