I vote we ignore all of the Hollywoodies now.

I second the motion. Any mention of their names is too much publicity. And I'd like to add Medea Benjamin to the list of non-persons. She is quite capable of getting her own publicity. FR should not contribute to giving her more 'face' time.

This is fun! But hard to eliminate people. I am suprised I didn't think of Hillary in the nomination process. Oh well, in no particular order:
Jeanine Garofalo
Peter Arnett
Iraqi Minister of Information Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf
Nancy Pelosi
Susan Sarandon
Tim Robbins
Michael Moore
George Galloway
Ted Rall
Scott Ritter

Janeane, because it is hers before all others, and Eason Jordan, because he thought his 'explanation' of his actions was exculpatory. the rest should be consigned to anonymity.

My selections in order of merit:
1. Clinton(s)- all statements are calculated with malicious intent and the 'status of the clintons' lends credence nationally and internationally to what they say
2. Jordan/CNN - lotta lies for a lotta time to a lotta people
3. Arnett - king of disinformation for (at least) 12 years
4. DeGenova - indoctrination of students
5. W. Clark - because has political aspirations
6. J. Garafalo - because she's the namesake of the award
Bagdad Bob just liked breathing and the rest are irrelevant blow-hards to whom no one really pays attention.

Thanks for the ping!
I agree with whoever said earlier that Hollywood is irrelevant, so I didn't include any of those morons. Here's my top 5:
1) Clintoon.
2) Hackworth
3) Thomas
4) DeGenova
5) Pelosi
Galloway gets honorable mention, but since he's a British MP I figure they can recognize him somehow.

"
--will be awarded to prominent individuals in the media and elsewhere whose histrionic predictions of doom and gloom before and/or during Operation Iraqi Freedom stand head and shoulders above all others for their shrillness, certainty, and apocalyptic ravings."Thanks for that reminder L_V_M. This is an 'histrionic prediction' award.
There are some who would qualify for the "Treason - Put 'em up against the wall Award" (Eason, and Petah); and some for the "Let's shoot down the Republicans and keep this political Award" (Pelosi, Conyers).
So I will keep my list with the 'doom and gloomies.'

Eason Jordan.
Justification: The rest have been proven wrong... and their influence has already diminished. Jordan and CNN lied and contributed to the situation. This is unexcusable for any network news channel to do regardless of politics.

I'd loved to have had Sarandon, and Sheen and Arnett, etc. on this list, but I kept it to those whose predictions simply didn't pan out.
(Actually -- all of them deserve some sort of 'honorable mention'.)
(Great job, Angelwood. You should get your own award just for your research!)
Garofalo - Just because she should have the first bite of that crow.
Matthews - "??--immense,transparent, political stupidity?????"
Hackworth - He should know better!
Ritter - What happened to him?
Apple - Is he in 'shock and awe' now?
Clooney - He just doesn't like President Bush.
Clark - Consider the source.
Galbraith - He tried to intellectualize a serious threat.
Jenkins - Another doom and gloomer.
Rall - An arm-chair general!

Such a target-rich environment here. But I'll have to give my nod to Michael Moore for the most ill-timed ignorant outburst.
