It's Earth Day. Find out how evil you are.
My Footprint ^

If everyone live like your humble servant it would take 4 earths. I'm so ashamed of myself. :-( I was hoping for more, it's obvious that in the coming year I will have to buckledown and try harder.

To: theDentist
Damn, I only got 11.7 planets. I guess I need to leave the lights on more and jack my power bill up or fly more, one of th two.

12.2 earths. Most of which was taken up for transportation since I am a traveling salesman.
Memo to all the other drivers: Get off my road.

I'm a slacker, too. Only 4.1 Earths. I'll try harder. I think it's because I live in a smallish condo. We'll have to get a bigger place and less fuel efficient car.
Does anyone else see the irony of the question asking if your home has electricity while taking a quiz on the internet?? Couldn't they just assume the answer is yes to that one??

After taking the test I got a 7.9. Pretty good.
I then retook the test pretending I was a fruit loop Greenie that lived in a commune and got a 4.1.
It seems in order to be not a burden on the worlds ecological system, you need to be a goat herder living without electricity or running water.
I'm pretty sure I am 7.9 time more productive than a goat herder.

I think my 13 planets was due mainly for eating take-out foods and driving an old car. Everyone should do more to eat food out; it wastes a lot more resources with those wrappers and bags and condiments and such,...

79 acres! Yikes! I must be a total eco-disaster, even without an SUV. Part of this is that I live in an actual house rather than a filing cabinet apartment and fly more than 100 hours per year. Ira Einhorn probably scored pretty well, since he lives in minimalist public housing these days and never travels, but I wonder what Ralph Nader's score would be?

My results:
CATEGORY/ACRES
FOOD 6.9
MOBILITY 2.7
SHELTER 4.2
GOODS/SERVICES 6.2
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 20
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.
WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.
IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.5 PLANETS.
Note to self: TRY HARDER IN 2003!

I devour 9.3 planets myself... These folks do raise one interesting point - it's clear that we need to start conquering more planets...

I suggest buying an SUV, eating more meat, and moving into a bigger house. Driving 500 miles a week would help too. I got only 6.7 planets, and I don't want the hassle of driving hundreds of miles or gorging on meat three meals a day. Would it help if I burned toxic waste in my backyard?
