So removing freedoms hasn't affect you? Ever heard of the second amendment? The wacko's calling Bush the next Hitler are beginning to sound not so wacko,...Hillary IS the next Hitler. Keep talking this way, and urging friends to stay home next November, and you will see that Hitler come to Power in this nation. Then you will be lucky if you are allowed to own a slingshot to defend your family (like when Madame Hillary uses the FBI to take your 12-yr old son away from you for "sex crimes" for sticking his tongue out at a girl at school.)

It kept me from getting a rocket launcher for Christmas, but other than that, I am free and enjoy the greatest nation in the world.

This is how the spineless Republicans got to be spineless. Every one of those cowards knows that they can wimp out and we will do NOTHING because "where else will they go?"
It doesn't much matter anymore anyway. I'm practically living in Mexico now here in Nashville. Those jobs not paying slave wages here are all moving overseas to be filled by foreign "slaves". Fat Cat companies (yeah; I'm not afraid of labeling them) care NOTHING about America: only making a profit. Check out your neighbors lately? Rude angry greedy strangers who spout courtesy's with zombie-like monotones because that's what their jobs call for. What happened to good American people? They are gone. Look at teenagers today: they are monsters. The Democrats continue to dumb them down in the schools and their parents are more interested in watching "the bachelor" to care about what they are up to. The liberals steadily destroy our morality, and your friends, the Republicans, insist their concern while they wink at their Democrat pals and do nothing. America is dead. It's going down the drain as we watch. There's still a few good people left: the folks here at FR, the folks who turn up at the pro-America rallys, but we are the small minority now. Life sucks and then you die. I wish I had optimism left, but I'm too much of a realist.

What's your point? Let me spray at you with the ma-deuce, I was the top gun in my cav squadron with it, and see how well you shoot. A good shooter is a good shooter. Most of the guys can not only shoot service rifle, they also shoot NRA long range and bench rest. I disagree that most hunters have better fieldcraft. Most "hardcore" hunters do, but the majority of hunters overall shoot less than a box of shells a year and spend only a couple of weeks at deer camp in a year.

""You really think that federally-owned guns secured on federal property by federal employees will be available to citizens trying to stop federal tyranny?!""
"Thank you for demonstrating that you do not know the folks who make up our military."
Is there a factual error in my statement you wish to dispute?

The majority of (rifle) hunters probably have no idea what MOA means, and are delighted if their shot is on paper at 100 yeard.

This is how the spineless Republicans got to be spineless. Every one of those cowards knows that they can wimp out and we will do NOTHING because "where else will they go?" I am not saying that. I am just saying lets try and stay unified (look at the Dems...division = defeat). In the next ten years the future of this nation will be decided based on the makeup of the SCOTUS. If Bush wins, you get more Scalias and Thomases. If Hillary or Kerry wins you get more Ginsbergs and Breyers. If the former happens we have a chance as a nation (along with a court which will most certainly rule the assault ban illegal). If the latter happens this country will have set the controls for the heart of the sun...national suicide and Third World status.
I don't know to tell you. I know you are angry, as are many others. All I can say is...tell the White House, tell Congress...try and delay and stall this in Congress until after the election. My West Wing friends tell me this is subterfuge...that they expect this to die in the House and Bush can appear the impartial statesman. I don't call that leadership, and have said so. But if the GOP wins 4-6 more Senate seats in 2004 withBush in command, we will have a "moderate-proof" majority, and a potential 7-2 SCOTUS lead by 2008. Let's TRY and make this work. This outcome will be better for all of us.

Glock 17 mags...pre ban....20 bucks...today 120 bucks. AR15 preban...750 bucks....todays price for a SP1 CAR..1700 dollars or more. So it has not affected the availbility..but the price is out of control. So the ban has its outcome that was expected all along. Drive up the price so no one execpt the rich can afford firearms. Keep your cheap Romainian AK's and your chinese SK's I would rather own a quality rifle. If it aint Colt...blah blah blah. The ban has had an effect all right.....on my wallet.

Don't have that 30-30. But when "they" come for the others, the balloon goes up.
To: Dick Bachert
My post did not address those among guardsmen (cops? not many!) who will take the side of liberty. And you have conveniently ignored the facts of my post, and failed to explain how those liberty-loving guardsmen will gain control of and access to the federal arms.

It's obvious that you do not know any of the people who make up our regular military or the National Guard.

He might be surprised, fatally so, to find out what the average military professional would consider a "domestic" enemy.

If a true tyranny ever tried to assert itself in America, he'd be very surprised who his friends turned out to be, as well.

The ban because of a Restraining order is out of order as well in some cases. I had an old man who use to shoot on my pistol team. I'd say he was in his late 70s and a real quiet nice man. Well when the ban came into effect his house was visited by the local boys in blue and his guns were confiscated. He had a 22 Browning Bull barrel Competition firearm and a backup competition Ruger MK II. He lost his guns for a restraining order that was put on him back in the early 60s by his wife who had PMS and was always calling the police on the poor guy. Mainly for comming home late for supper and she'd scream abuse and get him in trouble. He lived near by and I did witness it once way back. Before the ink was dry on the restraing order she would make up with him. I don't ever recall him out of the house honestly. But when this law came into effect he lost his only enjoyment in life to an antiquated restraining order. There should be a limitation on the age of a restraining order.
