BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Last week's looting of the Iraq National Museum, which saw numerous items disappear from a vast collection spanning eight millennia of Mesopotamian history, has provoked world-wide outcry -- and criticism of the U.S. military for its failure to protect Iraq's priceless cultural heritage.

If Hussein's palaces weren't so tacky, I'd presume he and his family looted the museums over the past decade. As it stands, I don't mind their museum was looted. Irak and Muslims need to forget their toxic past of tribal fueds. They need to get with the program, their historic memory needs to be replaced with Burger King and MTV.

Among the antiquities unaccounted for so far, Mr. George said, are the sacral vase of Warqa, from Sumerian times, and the bronze statue of Basitqi, from the Accadian civilization. Google search on "basitqi" turns up nothing. "Warqa vase" does turn up at a couple of sites.

Donny George is hardly an Iraqi name. Where did they get him?

Lt. Col. Schwartz, whose functions also include feeding the lions in the abandoned Baghdad Zoo next door, said he couldn't move into the museum compound and protect it from looters last week because his soldiers were taking fire from the building -- and were determined not to respond. There is an Iraqi army trench in the museum's front lawn, and Lt. Col. Schwartz said his troops found many Iraqi army uniforms inside. "If there is any dirty trick in the book," he said, "they sure used it." NYT and the alphabetnet continue to try to foist the Big Lie of looting--when it's more the Mogadishu template: U.S. removes tyrant starving citizens, so tyrant hides behind citizens to shoot at U.S.
For NYT and the alphabetnet America, Bush and the troops are ALWAYS wrong, their question at press conferences and in their "news" is ALWAYS "Why hasn't Bush quit beating his wife!"
Kudos to WSJ and Fox for the balanced report.
The Leftist propaganda machine is in effect criticizing the dead firemen and police in the WTC for failing to rescue "millions of irreplaceable files".
It's a war of liberation and we and the Iraqis are victorious.
The Left is losing--and it turns their red faces purple.

It is obvious that the Looting of the Museum is the new Lack of Gravitas being spun by the left wingers and their buddies the Dino Cons.
They could care less about 9/11, the mass murders committed by the Soddomites for close to 3 decades, and the awful imprisonment of Iraqis for decades.
Both of these despicable groups hate President Bush so much they have embedded with the devil and become Fedayeen Soddomites.

Don't let Theresa or the physicist hear about this! Why the devil not? If some of the items were rescued ahead of time, it's some of the best news I've heard all week.

Gee, keys to the safes, the locks on the doors and the vaults just might mean an inside job. Or they hired the American Left Wing Fedayeen Saddomites to do the job.

"Instability is a green light for anyone interested in antiquities," says Donny George, an urbane Assyrian Christian who runs the research department at Iraq's National Museum in Baghdad. http://www.casi.org.uk/discuss/2001/msg00691.html.
Later on in that link:
Archaeology is held in high esteem in Iraq. Saddam Hussein sends Donny George his reports back with careful notes in the margin. Iraq's president has rebuilt Babylon, to the fury of Unesco and other international cultural organisations, and has had his name inscribed on a plaque next to Nebuchadnezzar's.
To: PhilDragoo
Thanks Phil for your comparisons. It is obvious the left wingers and the Dino Cons are in bed with this one.

The museum director, Donny George (!) was showing a picture of this thing on the evening news. Dates from 3200 BC!!!!! Looked a couple of feet high, amazing that it was still in one piece. Would be a great pity if it was lost.
