I think there is an easier way to characterize Bush & Clinton, both of whom are "smart men"
Clinton is a "taker" who is selfish & thus self-centered. He uses his intellect to meet his carnal, emotional, psyche needs.
Bush is a "giver". He uses his intellect to build up others .. but at the same time lifts his own persona to unbelievable heights.

Do you really think that france & Germany's support would have made a difference?
I think we did better with the UN being out of the picture.
Probably the best thing that happened was their "attitude"

Do you really think that france & Germany's support would have made a difference? While it is possible to believe that Saddam would have been defiant no matter what try to imagine him holding on if France, Germany, Russia and China had firmly condemned him along with the U.S., Britain and others. But it goes further than the recent UN resolutions. Imagine Saddam continuing on his course if those countries had withheld economic and material support for the last 12 years.

I was listening to the radio on the way home from work when I heard an ABC reporterette confidently declare that the President was speaking today at a Boeing F-17 factory. What the heck is a F-17?

Aaron, with all due respect, I notice you are very quick to believe the worst about our troops. If you find confirmation of this story, please post it,
--- -- ----
A prominent Kurdish-backed leader in the city accused U.S. forces of stoking tensions by raising the Stars and Stripes over the building.
In an interview with al-Jazeera, Mashaan al-Juburi said: "I was standing in the middle of protesters. I tried to calm them.
"When people saw the U.S. forces enter the (governor's) building and raise the American flag, they seethed and started stoning the U.S. forces."
Brooks said demonstrators hurled stones and spat at the U.S. forces and also torched a civilian vehicle.

Again, our Marines responded properly. The point of my original post was why don't they obey orders and hide the stars and stripes. Its just freaking these Saddam loyalist out and its not necessary.

Beautiful post. Thank you. Germans should understand something about what we're doing in Iraq:
|
Two weeks ago, the Iraqi regime operated a gulag for dissidents, and incredibly enough, a prison for young children. Now the gates to that prison have been thrown wide open, and we are putting the dictators, political prisons, and torture chambers out of business. (Applause.)
(Pres. Bush's speech today. Plenty o'good tag lines. (^;)

thanks for the pictures earlier..
Date night..
Lockkeepers in Valley View ....... fine dining & then to see movie Abyss (something or other) - Semi documentary on the Titanic..
Bike ride was fun.. short only about 7 miles but terrain was VERY rough for me (I am used to long rides.. 75+ on roads) & dog Oliver had fun romping & chasing things & swimming in the many ponds..Since I have had a dog, my activites have been modified to include him so we both get some fresh air & exercise.
Keep info flowing. Wish I could see the Pentagon tour.. if I was home dont have cable/dish anyway. so will read everyone's commentary later....
