The liberation of Baghdad was greeted with celebration as well as looting, and by ill-concealed dismay in Paris, Berlin, Moscow and the left-wing British press. It was unquestionably a victory for the United States, not only for the American forces, but also for the American model of society.

Actually I think IT started the English Declaration of Rights in 1688... The folks declaring independence from England were already a free people; they were simply recounting the rights of free Englishmen which included the right not to be taxed without represenation in Parliament...

Actually, July 4, 1776 IS breaking news in the Arab-Muslim world, which still is delusional enough to believe in the return of Saladin and the ascendancy of the Arab world back to where it was 800 years ago.

For a culture where there is no such thing as democracy, religious tolerance, and a free press with people able to find out facts and debate them openly amongst themselves, I think reading the Declaration of Independence might be a breaking news revelation of enormous proportions.
