I've got my TV running all day with the sound off, just in case... If I hadn't turned it on when I got up the other day to see what had happened overnight, I would have missed the statue... I'll never forget this past month, that's for sure.

Interesting ethical question, was CNN right to encourage Sadler's trip by carrying it live? If he gets away OK, they look like heroes. But how does CNN look if he is killed? Seems a bit different than the calculated risk of riding along with the troops.

I'm not certain I have an opinion myself yet, just raising the issue.

CNN returning fire is one they'll never live down.

They're "hired guards" or "security." They do it all the time -- saw that a lot in Afganistan.

Of course, apply some basic "Agency" law, and it's the same as Sadler himself being armed, or having guards that are full-time CNN employees...

Probably all our bombing was either closer to the city or further out where forces were amassed. I didn't see the beginning, so I have no idea of everything they passed through. You saw no damage?

A person claiming to be a teacher said Tikrit was safe and that he would take them safely into Tikrit. I don't know at what point the teacher took off, but they didn't seem to be around after the gunfire.
