Oh it most definitely is real.
Love it! Thanks. Actually, I don't know what that word means, but I know it's not nice. (And please don't tell me.)

I think you are right about the sign previously belonging to the human shields...and the Iraqis added the red words.
Peter Jennings actually quoted it word for word and said "Giving the definition for the word Wanker wouldn't be appropriate...figure it out for yourself!" Ha!

I'm in my office prison as well -- but happy that it's in the U.S. and I have the freedom to SAY that :)
That UN/Iraqi clown's remarks today cracked me up -- "no relationship to Saddam" my a**!!! Uh huh....
To: hillsborofox
I was listening to Peter Jennings when he said someone asked him what the sign meant. He said Uh-hummmm! It is in the dictionary, go look it up.
I think Peter had his mind in one place since he didn't want to say what it meant.
The meaning the Iraqi's had on this sign was this
Cambridge Dictionary
wanker noun [C] UK OFFENSIVE
1 a very stupid, unpleasant or useless person, usually a man:
They're all a bunch of wankers!
Book of Slang
wankernoun 1. (Derogatory) an obnoxious or annoying person. 2. a self-indulgent or egotistical person.
I think that is a good definition for those US human shields who went over there.

I looked it up like Peter Jennings suggested. Maybe he should have done the same thing.
But there again he has a one track mind.

I suspect the vast majority of people here in the US either don't know what it means or thinks it means what other Freepers have said it means on other threads...
Still, this is an excellent description!

I know that they weren't supposed to put up the flag Yeah, that was a big ooopsie. But I heard someone on MSNBC say that it was most likely just youthful enthusiasm of the soldiers. Only the anti-war people will make a big deal about trying to relate it to "occupation" rather than "liberation!!!".

Just listening to a fellow say his name is "Boosh" now. He added, "I love this guy, I love this guy, he made us free". I saw this guy, too! He was in Dearborn, MI, during the impromtu rally by the Iraqi-Americans. He said he changed his name to Bush!
