We had a chinaberry tree in the back yard when I was a child. A storm got it one night.
I haven't seen one in years.

The weather here in AL is warm and the dogwood, redwood, etc are beautiful. My favorite time of the year.ARRGH! I'm so jealous; don't torture me!! The snowpack finally melted about 3 weeks ago, but we had another two light snowfalls after that. It was gorgeous two weeks ago ; in the 50s during the day and not below freezing at night. This week has been cold again, and it's beginning to snow again! We're supposed to have 4-6 inches overnight.
The combination of going back to the cold weather and staying up too late watching the war news these last two weeks has given me the worst chest cold! Hubby got back from at bidness trip to CA last week, and he had it too! We've sounded like a TB ward around here the last few days!
Other than that, I'm fine! LOL!

Oh yes, please arrest Baghdad Bob on air.
Today, at the end of a segment, right after the Pentagon Briefing, Rush said that "Bob" was having a news conference and that Bob said that the brave Iraqi military had landed on the American mainland and had taken Yankee Stadium (in a snowstorm), and were headed down Broadway to capture all the tickets for the Broadway shows.
As soon as Rush said the Iraqi's had landed on American shores, I started laughing - I mean really - we destroyed all their airplanes so how were they going to get here. Suddenly I realized this was one of Rush's showing absurdity by being absurd.
When Rush came back on the air, he took a call from a guy who said he called a TV station and chewed them out because they weren't showing this attack on NY. Rush was stunned. After awhile, Rush confessed they had had another call from a woman who also believed the statement, and Rush went on to explain it was a joke to show how absurd "Bob's" statements were.
I saw that statement by Bob, and I was hoping several of our military would suddenly appear right behind him with weapons drawn and take the "useful idiot" into custody; right in front of the media - what a great shot that would have been!

Have you heard the new Clint Black song "I RAQ AND ROLL"? You can get the lyrics and free download at www.clintblack.com
Chorus to it is great:
I RAQ, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
I'M BACK AND I'M A HIGH TECH GI JOE
I PRAY FOR PEACE, PREPARE FOR WAR
AND I NEVER WILL FORGET
THERE'S NO PRICE TOO HIGH FOR FREEDOM
SO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU TREAD

I did not find any under heirloon but I did find a place that sells seeds-4 for $1.95. That is more reasonable. I may order several packs just to see if I can get them to grow here in Alabama. When I was a kid, every old houseplace had these trees left standing a long time after the house was gone. It's funny the things we remember about our childhood. My mother needs to write a book about her life. She was born in 1901. Just imagine the things she has seen through her lifetime. I was reading something recently which said that people from large families lived longer. Wonder if that is true since she had about 13 kids in her family.

If you have not yet done so, check out the most recent article on www. mullings.com. I love the quote about the brave soldiers who brought their dead fellow soldiers home: "They dug them up with their hands, and raced the sun."
I choke up everytime I read it.

They're very polite, our soldiers. Notice not one of them has their feet on the furniture.

Evenin' all,
Who are the folks he's greeting at the airport?
Beautiful article. Just finished it myself, over at Opinionjournal. Can't say as I wasn't a bit misty over it ;-)
To: Maigrey
I love the picture...but I'm confused. What about it...er, 'melts your butter?'
:-D
To: rintense
He looks sooooo much better. It's as though all those years and cares have just been lifted off his shoulders.
I love the look he gets on his face when he's holding children. It's that same silly, happy look he had in the picture of him holding the twins right after they were born. Do you guys remember the "Awwwwwwwww" picture?
