Oh man do I smell a Saturday Night Live skit brewing. I wish Will Ferrell was still there. He could do a great Baghdad Bob.

Greg was using his video phone which tends to pixilate when subject is in motion so the actual explosion looked like a few overblown pixels, but this is just how we saw it on FOX.1) the statue. You could hear the shot fired, it's travel and then
2) the pixels.
After that
3) a cloud.

"Captain, it is true Saddam had casts of hands and arms taken to use as models for those crossed swords?"
"Yes Chekov. That is true and another fact that might interest you is Bill Clinton's plan to have his hands and arms sculptured for a set of crossed cigars at his Presidential Library."

Shep's reporting looting in Bashra. From some reason, I don't feel animosity toward these looters. Considering the deprivation they have been forced to live under, I say, if it is any building related to Saddam and his thugs, let them even take the paint (and paintings) off the walls.

It was fun to watch. FOXNews pulled off another media coup. They were showing live feeds from Greg Kelly at the Palace, while the other networks were playing feeds out of Arabic TV.
[Seems CENTCOM is giving FoxNews the exclusive on this. Maybe some payback involved???]
Arab Street in Turmoil <-- Link
AP Article reads as though some folks outside of Iraq are suffering shock and disbelief. That's close enough to shock and awe for me.
MSNBC now reporting possible finding of blister and nerve agents, trying to be hidden by regime.
We'll know this is moving from a mostly military phase to a mostly political phase when reports of WMD are being discussed AS ACCEPTED FACT by politicians.

I would imagine some severe sweating going on in Tehren and Damascus this morning.

NTV showing a jet (F16?) over Bagdad now...that was quick (it's gone)...should be booms in a moment ... smile.

It is unbelievably amazing that our troops have taken the airport, the palaces (2 at least), the parade grounds, most of the governmental "downtown" area, and yet...on the webcam traffic is moving, buildings (non-governmental) are standing, and life for the average Iraqi is going on (with maybe headaches from the bombing).

1 Spanish, 1 German journalist, 2 soldier. Killed by possible missile attack south of Bagdad. Ben Johnson, Fox Satellite Engineer, reporting live from that Control Center that had been hit.
Johnson reporting ongoing action--but unable to expound since he hasn't received clearning from the military.
Sky News just said that in the field there have been rumours that the II Marine Expeditionary (14,000- 42,000 strong) is coming from the Northwest to launch a killing blow on Baghdad after wire reports noted that the Baghdad Government may fall in days, not weeks.
Thread on FR. No link here, sorry.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/887177/posts <-- Reuters reports Iraqis fighting against coalition in Baghdad
More egg coming. A few are fighting against the coalition, but those few are pinched between the coalition and the overwhelming majority of Iraqi citizens.

MSNBC reporting from Oakland CA. Oakland police use concussion grenades and rubber bullits against anti-war protesters at dock apparently used to ship out war supplies.

NTV: Peter Arnett reporting that about 6 miles from downtown, 3 homes in a residential area were destroyed (American bombs) and the families/residents buried in rubble. [Implied that the residential area was targeted and that this is one of MANY similar instances where civilians have been injured/killed--because of American bombs.]
Arnett says he doesn't know, but "all those bombs must be targeting something." [well, duh!]
Min of Info--- he was defiant this morning.
[webcam connection unstable]
Local camera men have "taken off" so is hard to get a crew for video--and the ministry restricts coverage.
It is really too bad in America. [have no idea what that was about---am getting his responses, but not questions being asked him---getting 1 side of a 2-sided conversation.]
