FREEPER REPORT APRIL 5, 2003: Pro-America Rally with Glenn Beck in Clearwater, Florida

I'm probably the first person from Free Republic who attended the Coachman Park Flag Fest that's already home. I selected the front page for this report because those of us in attendance from Free Republic invited rally participants to visit us here. It will be much easier for them to be welcomed on the front page. Welcome.

I will have pictures from the rally and will be posting other links here. Flyers were flying in addition to all the American, British and military flags. There were some great signs too.

I was interviewed for local television but as time is always short, I'm not going to stay glued to the set for a glimpse of me. Let's just say that my sign may be on local Channel 13 (Fox) over the reporter's head at the anti-war moshpit, numbering a dozen or so. The short interview which is about that very sign is for local UPN Ch.4 or Ch. 9, I can't say for sure.

The pro-American crowd upon the knoll, and in the parking garage were very vocal when some antis were causing a disturbance. The police came and took some of them away (in hand cuffs).

Thanks for coming and thanks for the info - were they plastic or stainless steel h'cuffs? We could hear some shouts from the SE side of the park but couldn't tell what was happening? More facts please?

Sounds like I missed out on a great rally. I'd have made it out but I came down with some mild food poisoning last night and couldn't make it out. I'm a bit mad about that...hopefully there'll be another rally around here soon. Thanks for all the great pictures.

If you're doing the same thing: Scotchtape the corners both directions- use a holepunch through the tape, attach a red and blue permanent marker - put a blocked out message to tell the people where to return the pics ... worked graet for us ! Thanks to SerpentDove - TH54 (Charlie)

I can only attempt to clarify what I posted. We were approx. 60 yds from the disturbance. We saw about 8 people led away. It appeared from our view some had their hands behind them. I was too far away to really get a good look. In the fwiw department, there were a large number of people on the knoll, and in the garage east of the stage. That group was chanting 'USA' at the protestors (before the police intervened).

All your pix came thru beautifullly even on the modem (slow as molasses unit) - Thank you ! I wish I could have been there... many reasons ... including the fact that here in Cleveland it was in 20's, snowing & howling winds putting wind chill near zero!

As a former Clearwater resident, decades ago, I am so proud of you all. I attended the Cleveland & Valley Forge Rally's & they were just wonderful.

Those are a bunch of Vietnam guys--their vests had all kinds of insignia on them, and they apparently were in a pretty banged-up unit. Lots of memorial stuff for friends.

There is a vehement campaign being waged by the media who support the "anti-war" movement to discredit the "Rally America" by implying in each and every report on these rallies, that there's something really insidious about a private citizen who is friend to our president sponsoring them. This compared to the utter absence of mention in ANY of the endless stories favoring "anti-war" demonstrations, as to who funds such "Peace" fronts such as ANSWER, Not In Our Name, Patriots For Peace, etc., that are documented to include a rabble of communist, militant Islamic and other international anti-American organizations!
