I'm sure we have pretty good ongoing satellite coverage of Baghdad right now. Take a look and see if there were any throngs milling along the streets as shown.

The idea that we have continuous reconnaissance satellite coverage of ANYWHERE, or can have a satellite "movie" of an area is a persistent myth fostered by a lot of bad action thriller movies.

We have a limited number of recon satellites and each one only passes over a given area twice a day. For any spot on earth, most of the day, we do not have a satellite pic of that area. In fact, our satellite orbits are basically predictable and nations can move things around when they know there isn't a satellite overhead.

Any ability to see a crowd such as this would be from a U-2 overhead, unless we were incredibly lucky with the satellite pass time.

This is hooey!!! When is the last time you have seen THAT much traffic on the streets of Baghdad??? There has been, unbelievably, a pretty steady stream of cars in the various shots around the city, but in these shots, there is a freakin' traffic jam.
