Video shows Saddam walking down alleged Baghdad Street. Typical Iraqi celebration with Iraqis dancing on street with guns. Saddam embracing a kid. I think you can see a fire the background from an oil well. Overcast day.

I heard some female reporter from Jordan say that there have been so many doubles of Saddam in the last few years that she has no idea which one is real now!

General Downing just asked from Kuwait why on a 100+ day would some people around Saddam be wearing jackets. He said it is hot in Kuwait and even hotter in Baghdad and these people do not look hot!

Why does this look so much like the tapes broadcast by Iraqi TV in the 1991 war? Because it probably was. That war was in the Winter. The Iraqis are in long sleeved shirts and coats on a 100 degree day.
To: PhiKapMom
"When it gets over 100, even desert heat is very hot! Long sleeves on the street would still be hot!"
Excellent observation!

Not only is there way too much traffic - are the street lights working? I thought the power was off.

Do you really think he would be stupid enough to walk down the street with bombs dropping around the city? Stupid is as stupid does. But no. He's too paranoid for his own safety to do something like that.
To: honeygrl
General Downing just said there is no smoke in the background.
No way would there not smoke after all the bombing and fires.

I'm having a hard time believing Saddam would allow that many GUNS near him at this time.

Used to live in Yucaipa, CA, between the high desert and low desert and even in dry heat, over 100 degrees is really, really hot.

This morning's press briefing by General Vincent Brooks corrected a reporter when he suggested that two M1A1 Abrams tanks have been destroyed. Brooks said that's wrong. Only two tanks have been struck and sustained some damage but that NO tanks have been destroyed. Zero.

The video footage, although billed as live, was broadcast after dark in Iraq and Saddam was seen walking, surrounded by chanting Iraqis, in the daylight. It's important to note that this line is a direct quote from the AP story.
IOW, they're not buying it. Now, the "Arab Street" might still buy it, but I don't think they matter much.

His appearance means very little in the REAL world. Tell me what is MORE effective in War? Surrounding the capitol of the enemy and controlling it's main airport, destroying 3 of the 6 divisions of the enemy's ARMY, having 10000 plus POW's and around 100k enemy deaths OR the ENEMY DICTATOR strolling down the streets of Baghdad? This might mean something to the IMAGE conscience lefties of the world but nothing to our military leaders grounded in reality.

Exactly. How DUMB can the media be? Or is it just wishful thinking?
