A great read! One of those History Channel shows had 3-4 guys knocking down a door with a sniper behind them across the street on the roof. As soon as the door gets kicked in the sniper shoots the target inside (live fire training) and the guys go storming in.

The lead guy says of the sniper "his bullet goes 2 inches past my ear as I'm going in - but that's a long ways in terms of his accuracy - there's no way I could get hit."

Now that's training and courage (perhaps a bunch of faith too?!)

And our forces aren't just training anymore. It's real, they're getting fired at, and it's amazing their bravery. No less of them to run into a building or up a street than the bravery it took to run up Omaha beach. God Bless our Troops and bring them home soon.

On Monday, two brigades of the Army's 101st Airborne Division - a unit that has trained hard for this type of combat - launched a squeeze play on the terror detachments in the city of An Najaf. Thus far, two American lives have been lost - each soldier mourned and honored - but the Iraqi death machine has lost several hundred killed, still more wounded and a large number of thugs and hit-men captured.

Every hour, more of An Najaf's citizens are safe and free.

Congratulations to our troops and all of their commanders who have given us this capability.

I am solidly a Peters fan now. I read his column everyday as required material.

This is off subject, please forgive, I didn't want to post a vanity.

The only thing worth watching on MSNBC was the "Imus In The Morning" simulcast.

Since the war started, Imus has been permanently preempted. I have gone thru the list of the affiliate stations and couldn't find one that carries the show via streaming audio.

What has happened in effect is this: Imus has been gagged.

Is there anyone out there who might provide a link to some streaming audio of Imus?

Awesome piece. Our troops may lack actual combat experiene, but they are the best trained in the world, including training in how to handle urban combat.

Hue City - besides Iwo Jima, the toughest nut the USMC has cracked. Lessons learned there are now paying dividends in Iraq. I am still waiting for the quad 0.50s and flame throwers, though.

Our troops didn't charge wildly into Basra or Nasiriyah as Saddam hoped. Instead, they methodically began to dismantle the resistance put up by the regime's die-hard thugs and party hacks - fighting on our terms, not theirs.

Once again, a reporter asked at today's Centcom briefing "why" we moved so rapidly to Baghdad, and didn't secure the Southern cities first -- as if securing these towns was some sort of afterthought.

How gleeful the left would have been to see us on day 12 still no further into Iraq than Basra; what a victory it would have been for Chirac and his cronies to see an urban bloodbath.

How grateful I am that we didn't oblige.
