I find this regrettable. I think Jerry has done a commendable job in Afghanistan and in Iraq.
Since losing a great many friends on 9/11, ol' Jerry has had a real epiphany. He has been a staunch cheerleader for the men in uniform.

I wish Fox would fire Whorealdo already. He's a black mark on the whole network.

It's hard to lump the two in the same basket.true, but for this: both think that it is themselves, not the story, that people want to know about. the definition of the difference between a "journalist," who makes himself the hero of the story, and a "reporter."

That's a far more accurate assessment than some of the adolescent snickering going on in this thread.

Probably did it on porpose. He got scared.
He was in Afganistan first, but for some reason ended up in Iraq.
Remember, he's a chicken little from CNN.

Good news. I actually had to switch to CNN last night because I was embarrassed for the troops and sick of the goofy antics of this POS. Good riddance.

I agree with you. I like his reports, but obviously he can't be trusted to keep his mouth shut.
Objective standards demand that he be fired. But people better realize they are losing a guy who REALLY touted U.S. troops and who was a good propaganda tool if used properly.

Thgat is my assessment of Jerry Rivers, too. Too much of a loudmouth to be trusted very much. Not so much a traitor as a bumbling fool.

I didn't see any terrible security breach. His sand map drawing was no different from zillions of others available on the TV and the internet. Of course, if he divulged stuff that he was told he shouldn't, then he gets pulled.
Guess we'll see him reporting on the dolphins from now on. I can see it now: "These are the finest fighting dolphins I've ever seen, the Elite 251st 'Battlenosers'. Here, Flipper, say something to your kids back in the States. There's no 'operational pause' here in the Shatt-Al-Arab waterway. The water here is very soft [he says, patting the water], not like water you're used to in the States. It gets into everything. I can't really draw a map in it."

And that is the reason he was put with a unit so far from the front; so when he invariable opened his big mouth any damage he did would be minimal.

Fox should apologize PROFUSELY after they jumped all over the Arnett story Nah. Arnett was Saddams right hand propaganda man.
Geraldo is just an x-CNN idiot.

With all due respect, the only think Gerry Rivers has ever been is pro-Gerry Rivers and screw everybody else. V's wife.

I agree. I saw his show several weekends ago when he was with the troops in Afganistan. He did a wonderfully superb job supporting out troops and, you could tell, the troops enjoyed it too.
