Jerry showed up with his gamblers moustache, suspenders and cowboy hat. Then, he used the troops - lots and lots of them - as props and extras for his schtick. He is an embarassment, detracting from FOX coverage.

Well said.

God, I hope this report is true. Who would really want Geraldo embedded in their unit? Some of the SF guys in Afghanistan hated him. In the new book The Hunt For Bin Laden the author claims one group of SF wanted to see somebody punch out Geraldo and they actually drew straws to determine who would do it if they got the chance. They thought he was phony who tried to take advantage of them by offering a chance to say hello to family and friends in the States in return for intel.

If Geraldo wants to stay on in Iraq as a "unilateral", that's fine. Send him to Baghdad ASAP!!

Here is a copy and paste of the "fit" I pitched, just sent to Foxnews...

"There is a posting on FreeRepublic this am that Geraldo Rivera has been expelled from the 101st Airborne. I hope this is true, because as a Fox fan who watches you from dawn till midnight, I think it is about time. Yesterday he gave out way too much information, and was appalled to hear him say he was a "friend" of Scott Ritter and Peter Arnett. He should have had better judgement than to say that on the air, even if he qualified the comments.

Furthermore, in my humble opinion, as the mom of an 82nd AB officer who went into Northern Iraq during Operation Provide Comfort, I would have been terrified for my son and his unit's safety had Geraldo been reporting on their position as he did yesterday and overnight on that of the 101st.

Aside from being tossed out of the 101st as an embedded, I hope you will issue an apology to all the parents, wives, children, and friends of the brave men in the 101st, on the air and often! And, I hope you will decide that Geraldo's many talents belong elsewhere than on your network. His reporting is too much about himself, and not enough about the very serious issues our forces are facing.

He really doesn't come even close to matching the quality of your other reporters in the field, and belongs back on the freak talk show circuit. Get him off your network as soon as you can negotiate "out" of whatever contract his agents made you sign. You are doing so well in the ratings, but Geraldo doesn't have anything to do with that, as I tend to check out what the other cable networks are doing whenever he comes on, knowing that all I will hear is Geraldo blowing crap about how cool he himself really is.

Nice theater for those who are easily impressed with phony blustering bravado, but we are not.

By the way, Oliver North is someone we never want to miss. Rick Leventhall is excellent, and so is Greg Kelly. As are the rest of your reporters in the field.

Geraldo is the "weakest link"... but Rita Crosby is beginnig to grate with her endless yapping about "her sources". I hate reporters who more interested in how important they are than the story. Linda Vester is excellent, and so is Laurie Dhue.

Get rid of the high ego types. We all find them more than an annoyance, and wish they would realize that the story isn't about them, but our effort to stop the slaughter of innocents, and preventing the cancer of WMD.

Sincerely,
name & addy deleted for my privacy here, but sent to them

PS. A copy of my letter to you is going to be posted on the thread at FreeRepublic discussing Geraldo's being tossed out of Iraq. You may read the various opinions at this link, as you might find it interesting how many of your faithful viewrs were truly offended by his "reporting"! The link follows.

that's not how it's going to play, which is a good thing because that's also not true. ailes and geraldo go way back. that's why he's on fnc. it was a terrible mistake, but he wasn't hired because he's a balancing liberal.

Has there been any confirmation on this story from any source (web, print, broadcast), other than rumor?

He hasn't been FIRED, he was just kicked out of bed.

So, does this make him a "de-bedded" reporter?

THE GERALDO SHOW...with tonights guests...the 101 Airborne.. CANCELED......BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA Now he can revert back to his anti militray anti American real self...the self serving little plick

Sorry, Geraldo, back to Afganistan where you can cause less damage with your pompous stupidity. Roger Ailes usually has a pretty good head on his shoulders but he really blew it with Geraldo.

For all of you who think Liberals change here is a good example.

You said a mouthful. More of us should heed your advice but we tend to be, as usual, the SILENT majority. However, that's the sure way, perhaps, to LOSE our country. We, the RIGHT, tend to work, be productive, and not make waves, sometimes until it's too late. We should be more vocal.

thanks for the new link. the fact that fnc isn't mentioning it yet has something, too, to do with the nature of british journalism, i think, which includes an allergy to publishing corrections.

a good parody of this was found in the britcom "hot metal" of a few years ago. in it, a rubert murdoch type buys a well-respected paper. the editor keeps his job, but he's moved more and more out of the swing of things, his desk ultimately ending up in the elevator. but, finally, he put his foot down when the paper (which had been engaged in such activities as putting pinholes in prince charles's condoms), accused a harmless clergyman of being a werewolf. the editor demanded it be retracted, and the murdoch character agreed. next day we see the editor and the murdoch character; the latter asks the former if he noticed that the correction had been published. "yes, i did," replied the editor, "though it took me 15 minutes to find it: '9 down -- he is not a werewolf.'"

The only thing I found was one piece, from the CNN web site:

U.S. military officials say Fox News Channel correspondent Geraldo Rivera will be expelled from Iraq after violating the cardinal rule of war reporting Monday by giving away crucial details of future military operations during a live broadcast.

You got anything else? Surely you wouldn't believe CNN if they told you something you weren't hoping for, would you?

Who else is reporting this?

Oh please tell me this isn't true!! How is he supposed to win the whole war if he's been kicked off the front lines?

"geraldo is guilty of stupidity; arnett of treason. only one is a capital crime"

I visited the enemy camp again to get their perspective. Get this. They think Geraldo is guilty of treason, but Arnett is only guilty of speaking the truth.
