Yeah, I feel the same way. I really detested him during the Clinton days, but thought he did a turnaround. I was watching last night, I thought it was great that he showed the soldiers. However, I couldn't believe he started drawing in the sand etc, kept shouting at the screen. "What are you doing"! "What are you doing"!?? Not surprised they kicked him out!

THIS JUST IN:
Al Jazeero News has announced a major coup in the hiring away from FOX News of the multi-talented military expert and battle hardened reporter Gerry Rivers.
Rivers is reportedly being imbedded with the famous Nebachadsneezer division of the Republican Guard. He's being given his own T-55 tank and encouraged to roam at will within the red zone.

Haven't you noticed that all of their "hotel watcher" reporters were expelled from Baghdad and are now in Amman, Jordan or Kuwait City? When the Iraqis expelled them (only Fox) Fox did not mention it at all (that I ever saw.)I have a theory about that -- FNC (unwisely) still airs reports from David Chader of Sky News, a Newscorp entity, so remaining quiet about the expulsion of Fox reporters may be a strategy to protect Chader.
From what I've seen of Chader, he's an Arnett in the making. When the massive bombing of Baghdad took place early on, he was hyperventilating about civilian casualties -- during the bombing -- with no proof. He recently had a piece on the Sky News site claiming that the civilian deaths in Baghdad were unequivocally the fault of the U.S., and this morning on Fox he made a statement something like: "The only ordinance I've seen falling on Baghdad are coalition bombs, and not Iraqi anti-aircraft missiles."
If I were Murdoch, I'd watch this guy -- he's trouble.

Can you please correct this post #260 to say firing Arnett in stead of Geraldo ( thanks )

it is perfect. centcom busts the biggest embedded ego in the theatre, strips his buttons and drums him out for giving too much credible advance information to the enemy.
jerry's payoff: he proves his worth (i.e. pumps his ego) and the feint is accomplished. our payoff... the RG takes the headfake and runs with it.
history is being made in so many other ways, this could have been scripted from the gitgo.
my take -- let's see if we hear from jerry prior to the rout... if we don't hear from him for a bit... well... stay tuned. i doubt it, highly, but it would be amazing. LOL... we'd never shut him up.

"On a day like today
I passed the time away
Writing war secrets in the sand
I made a vow
That I really had changed
But somehow that vow
Still left me deranged
Now my stupid head aches
With every wave that breaks
Over war secrets in the sand."

It's also close to 10:30 am and no reports from Geraldo. That will be the test. Will he or won't he be reporting today?

I don't know if this might have something to do with it. "One event that might have alleviated the boredom Monday didn't happen. To the disappointment of the reporters - and vocal pleasure of some soldiers in my tent - a tentatively-planned visit by television personality Geraldo Rivera was cancelled. Army officials said Rivera was turned back after getting near the camp without military clearance. There was a chance he would try again later."I think it was based on last night. I was posting to one of the Peter Arnett threads and Geraldo was on the TV drawing a map out in the sand with specific cities/reference points, saying where they went, where they had been, and where they were going and when. I was pretty shocked to say the least and posted that it was worse than Arnett. He drew out the plan and could very well have jeopardized an operation.

Poor Fox news. Well, that's what they get for going out of their way (by hiring Geraldo) to prove they don't have a conservative bias. This is actually good for Fox I think. The so called "conservative network" looks bad because of one of their LIBERAL REPORTERS. Now the story is seen in the context of "Yeah, we try to give them a chance but what can you do?"
