Now he can work directly for Saddam as he's always wanted.
Don't be surprised to see him live from Baghdad on Al-Jeezera.

He said Bush is stupid, America is turning against him, the war plan has failed, the Iraqi resistance has been far more effective than USA thought it would be, etc.
In effect, he's said nothing any different than most ABCNBCCBSCNN "journalists," or Helen Thomas. But he said it to Iraqi TV.
Personally, I don't think his interview with Iraqi TV holds a candle to what he did in the "Operation Tailwind" scandal back in '98 (that got him fired from CNN).

Sheesh, GE did the right thing!?!?!?!?!
I just got finished emailing Michael Savage and Imus also a little while ago! Unbelieveable!!! Since he's no longer employed and not worth any more propaganda value, does this mean the Iraqis will take him out back and give him a smoke and a blindfold?

Iraqi Soldiers Crowd Streets Chanting 'Arnett Akbar'
(2003-03-31) -- Iraqi soldiers demonstrated their gratitude to MSNBC reporter Peter Arnett by gathering in the streets of Baghdad and chanting 'Arnett Akbar' (Arnett is Great!), and "There is no God but Saddam, and Arnett is his prophet."
Yesterday, Mr. Arnett granted an interview with Saddam Hussein's personal TV network during which he said coalition war plans have failed, and that his reports were designed to strengthen the anti-war war movement in Britain and the U.S..
"Our reports about civilian casualties here, about the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States," he said. "It helps those who oppose the war when you challenge the policy to develop their arguments."
Mr. Arnett, who will soon become an Iraqi citizen, is already revered by Ba'ath Party officials for his propaganda support of Saddam Hussein during the 1991 Gulf War.
Mr. Hussein has ordered construction of a new mosque in Baghdad to honor Mr. Arnett, whom he called "my most effective information ministry official".

Now THIS is what I call swift justice. Or instant karma. But it's only half of what he deserves. Now that he's been fired, he should be arrested and tried for treason. If I were him, I'd stay in Baghdad and die there with "honor", just as Saddam said he himself would do.

don't worry -- nbc and especially msnbc will be playing his exit interview over and over, all day, so as to compound the damage to the u.s.
and they'll do it with the same simpering tones of awe employed by the dimwitted couric at the end of arnett's little self-serving spiel.

Exactly.
He shouldnt just be fired, he should be tried for Sedition. Its ridiculous he isnt. I hope when they fired him they told him to walk back from Baghdad.
I dont remember any WWII correspondents giving Goebbels interviews and claiming the Allies were losing and had to review their battle plans.
